I have a friend whose husband has Crohn's disease, and he has had treatment at The Cleveland Clinic. Those appointments are REALLY hard to get. They had to wait a very long time before he was seen. I can't imagine SK would miss that appointment if he was able to attend.

It looks like the surgery was Monday, the article says it was yesterday, and the article was published on 10/27.

Just thinking out loud here: I wonder if the surgery was to have a bowel resection and colostomy placed as a result of damage from his Crohn's?

My oldest daughter is also an RN and her specialty is in wound and ostomy care (she had a temporary colostomy after an accident as a child). The psychological implications of the surgery are often on par with the physical.

And it makes me wonder.....

RIP Mr. Kelly

I can imagine that would be very difficult to accept, especially at the relatively young age of 45.

The article cited above has been updated:

Pennsylvania State Police confirm Shawn Kelly has been found dead in Butler County.
According to state troopers, a hunter spotted Kelly’s car Wednesday and immediately called 911. Kelly’s body was found inside, but investigators said they don’t expect foul play.

That’s sad- I had an emergency bowel resection after developing an abscess in my colon that ruptured and my small bowel was punctured as well- I can say that my worst nightmare was waking up from the surgery with an ostomy bag...RIP sir, and thank you for the work you did with your students.
