GUILTY PA - Six teen girls charged with beating mentally-disabled woman, Chester, 2012

When I lived in downtown Nashville a group of teenagers grabbed a homeless woman and threw her in the river where she drowned. People who prey on the helpless in society should pay dearly for their actions.

I actually have some degree of empathy for a child under 16-18 who sees violence, grows up in that world, and still chooses not to get caught up in mob mentality- even when they don't come forward to try and change the world.

In some social worlds, the police are the enemy. Calling would be akin to a complete community shunning and maybe even risk of personal safety. To me it's no different than a child not changing the happening within a cult situation. It's all they know, it's the only world they know, and their worldview isn't big enough to formulate the response on how to get out of it on a grand scale, only on an immediate scale.

JMO but IF she chose not to get caught up in the mob mentality, I would figure her a great great opportunity for society to rehabilitate. I would want to provide her resources to education and opportunities. In her world that alone took a lot of courage.

Now if she were laughing and egging them on, that's another thing.

The gang mentality is a dangerous thing. If a person does not speak up and voice their dissent when their friends are abusing another person, then the person is silently condoning and consenting to the friends' crime. Silence is as powerful an action as egging a friend on with words.

The third of six female teens accused of beating a mentally challenged Chester woman in September 2012 pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and conspiracy to recklessly endanger another person.

Takia Nicole Edwards... was sentenced to nine to 23 months at the county prison in Concord for the felony assault charge and two years of consecutive probation for the misdemeanor endangering charge...

Two other defendants took similar pleas in January. Rahmiiyah Henderson, 16, and Jasmir Womack, 17, were each sentenced to six to 23 months in prison with two years of probation.

Janyea Bell, 16, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and conspiracy to recklessly endanger another person, according to the Delaware County Daily Times. She was sentenced to 6 to 23 months in prison...

The remaining defendants are seeking to have their cases moved to juvenile court.

I suspect those last two were successful in moving to juvenile court because I can't find anything further on them.
