''She was a healthy 7-pound baby girl, a week, maybe 10 days old, born in September of 1951.
Much about the newborn is shrouded in mystery, including her name, who her parents were and where she was born.
What is known is that she was murdered. Her tiny body was stuffed inside a suitcase with a pair of women's pajama bottoms tied tightly around her neck and face.
Baby Jane Doe is the oldest known unsolved murder in Bucks County. She may be the youngest documented murder victim in Pennsylvania. Her case predates the 1957 “Boy in the Box” case, perhaps the most well-known unidentified child murder victim in U.S. history.'

''The 1951 murder of a newborn baby girl, found stuffed inside a suitcase a mile south of New Hope, is one of Pennsylvania’s oldest cold cases, writes Jo Ciavaglia for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Little is known about the baby, including her name, parents, and place of birth. But it is certain that she was murdered. When she was found, women’s pajama bottoms were tightly bound around her neck and face.

Baby Jane Doe is believed to be Pennsylvania’s youngest documented murder victim and the oldest known unsolved murder in Bucks County.''

It read: “Strangled baby’s body found beside River Road.”

At approximately 1 p.m. Sept. 13, a newborn white female infant was found dead in a suitcase in Primrose Creek along River Road, a mile south of New Hope and near Phillips Mill, where art exhibitions are held, according to the story.

The wife of Walter Miller, of New Hope, said car trouble forced her husband to stop along River Road when she noticed the suitcase in the shallow part of the creek, near a small stone bridge.

“The suitcase could easily be seen from the river road and no efforts apparently were made to hide it from the view of vehicular traffic, which uses river road,” the story reads.

Former Solebury Police Chief Dominick Bellizzie confirmed that his department — which didn’t exist until 1956 — has no records for this case. He added another former chief, who had worked in the department since the 1960s, didn’t recall the case.

Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said she'd never heard of the case, but now her office is looking to see if it can find more information.

The investigation remains under the jurisdiction of Pennsylvania State Police. Until recently the case was one of several long cold Bucks County murders cases featured on Crimewatch, a public safety website. The agency now uses a Facebook page, PSP Tips.
