I have a question, not sure where to ask. Is it more expensive to put someone to death then a life sentence? I've googled and I'm shocked that it says its more expensive to put someone to death.

This is a topic my son and I are talking about so it has nothing to do with anything other then a conversation we had.
I'm asking all of you to give me some input. Thank you.

I have read many times that with the appeals and court costs that come with a death sentence it is much more expensive to put someone to death than imprison them for life. This was shocking to me initially but I accept it to be true. I believe you can find this easily answered with just a little internet research.

Agree with Catmammy, I understand that the bulk of the cost to the taxpayers' is in the appeals.

Transporting the inmate back & forth to court proceedings under guard, prosecuting attorneys, public defenders, etc etc etc.
