Australian handed life sentence for human trafficking, rape in Philippines: reports

Peter Scully was arrested in 2015 after allegedly sexually abusing several girls, including an 18-month-old infant. He allegedly ran an international paedophile ring, selling explicit videos to customers around the world.

A court in the Philippines has reportedly found an Australian man guilty of raping and trafficking girls.

Local news outlets said Peter Gerard Scully was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of one count of human trafficking and five counts of rape.

Scully was arrested in 2015 after allegedly sexually abusing several girls, including an 18-month-old infant.

He also allegedly strangled one of the girls, with her skeleton later discovered buried under a house he had rented.

Scully, who is from Melbourne, first moved to Cagayan de Oro on the island of Mindanao in 2011.

He allegedly ran an international paedophile ring that raped, tortured and murdered children.

It is alleged he was filming videos of the attacks and selling them online to customers around the world for up to $10,000 a view.

It is this appalling footage which shocked even seasoned child trafficking investigators.

A Filipino police chief called it “the worst we have encountered in our years campaigning against child ”.

A Philippine judge today sentenced him to that sentence because he brutally raped and abused dozens of children from 2011 to 2014. Most of the children were under the age of twelve. One of them was just a 1-year-old baby and was forced to star in a film that sex offenders would later label as the most shocking material in circulation at the time.

Scully produced the child films himself and offered them for money on websites. Four Dutch detectives, who saw the video with the baby in an investigation, opened the hunt for the then unknown maker in 2014 and eventually managed to trace him in the Philippines. They were awarded for this at the beginning of this year by the Australian police.

It's a very notable case, and it didn't have a thread anywhere on this website to my knowledge.

Also, it's indirectly-related to the Josh Duggar case because one of the child videos he had downloaded was produced by Scully.
