The 30th anniversary recently passed of the unsolved murder of Oregon cowboy Phil Brooks, shot to death by a sniper while horse riding on the remote Fopiano Ranch where he worked, in Wheeler County, Oregon.

Various theories have been advanced through the years, but no convictions have resulted.

I have read the book mentioned in this article, and can confirm it's an excellent true crime read.
