Phil the eagle test flies his surgically repaired wing after November rescue from Indiana Toll Road
Phil, the bald eagle found on the Indiana Toll Road with a broken wing, is on the mend.
He has moved to the rehab part of his recovery at Humane Indiana Wildlife after being at Arbor View Animal Hospital since Nov. 12. Dubbed Phil by staff at the Valparaiso clinic, he underwent surgery to have pins placed in his wing so it would heal. The pins recently came out and he was moved on Dec. 18.
Phil was taken to Arbor View after Brian Taylor, a Hobart police officer, found him with a broken wing at the 12.5-mile marker on the Indiana Toll Road near the Little Calumet River while he was working an interdiction assignment. His wife, Andie Taylor, is a veterinary assistant at Arbor View and he called her for help, and she instructed him to put the eagle in a blanket and bring him to the clinic.
