I have been so impressed with this forum and with your youtube discussions about this case. So first, thank you so much!
I wondered if someone could point me to theories about the pink heart on JonBenet's hand?

The book "The Kissing Hand" came out in 1993 and was extremely popular in preschool and kindergarden classes as it tells the story of a young racoon who is nervous to go off to school without his mother. In the story, the mother assures him that wherever he is, wherever he journeys without her that she still loves him and he carries her love with him. The mom draws the heart on the young racoon's palm and says whenever he misses her that he can hold that heart close and remember "mama loves you".

This is immediately what I assumed that heart was from. My first instinct was that Patsy (or whomever killed/staged it) drew it after JBR was knocked out in remorse and telling her not to be scared about this journey into death she is going on and to remember that she is still very much loved.

I'd love to hear alternate thoughts about the hand drawing?

The red heart in her palm is probably the most overlooked aspect of the crime to me.

There was a clipping from a magazine - Esprit - found in the Ramsey home. The article had pictures of several people, including John Ramsey, and over all of them was written "no" or an x (it's a bit unclear since we only know from the interviews with John and Patsy) - except John, who was marked with a heart. All in red ink.

I don't think it's a coincidence that there was a red heart over John on the article, and a red heart in the palm of JonBenet's hand. In fact, I think this was the original message, the thing the killer brought with him, before he decided to fake a ransom note (which is why he used material from the house). It's also in keeping with the 90s crime movie references in the ransom note - as has been noted, this is very similar to the 1991 movie Ricochet.
