Just being a relative of his in public has got to be incredibly difficult right now. Showing up in court for this, she could be attacked. JMOO
I wondered if she was there to support her mother, who probably couldn't bear not to be there. It was also, in my view, a way to respect the victims, by witnessing the victim impact statements.

I'm aware and I'm aware of what the victim's families said. I believe them that Kohlberger contacted them.

I didn't know the families said that. Thanks for the info.

He suffocated kaylee… and blunt force injuries means he could have physically beat her too. So did he put the knife down at some point? Or she managed to knock it out of his hand .. it also explains how the sheath could have been dropped.
Good catch, I completed glossed over the asphyxiation part. It does seem like that may have been when the sheath was dropped and forgotten.

He may have been shocked and then livid to discover Kaylee in the bed. She was fighting him, and after they were both silenced he took out his rage on her face. We'll never know.
Bbm.
Agreed.
Wish they could have forced a few answers for the families, in exchange for the plea deal, though.
Just thinking out loud.

From what I read on the prison site (IMSI) the iPads are not free. Nor are TV's standard (but maybe can be purchased?) They have really limited internet and email access.

In BK's category of prisoner, his correspondents need to be approved by a prison manager. If the people messaging him are not immediate family, the Director of the whole prison has to okay the communication (which would then include visiting the prisoner in a no touch setting).

It's interesting to find tours of IMSI online (or reviews). It's a grim place with few perks. Commissary expenditures above a certain amount must also be approved. Apparently, everyone who is not on Death Row works a solid 40 hour work week. The cells I saw in one video do not have windows or bars on the doors - the bars are behind a steel door, so the person inside cannot see out until they are allowed out of their cells. These are not considered "solitary" confinement as they come out of their cells under guard to get exercise in groups, eat meals, shower, etc.

Then, they have these teeny containment cells for really out of control prisoners (they're not supposed to keep them there for more than a certain amount of time, as written in Idaho's policies for prisons). Those are true solitary confinement. Really grim spaces. No iPads, no TV if prisoners are not well behaved. They can start accessing those perks after six months, IIRC.

The policies are extensive and contained at that link. Not allowed to link to the youtubes, but IMSI has a few things one can find that show the inside.
His commissary spendings will likely be reduced as he starts paying restitution and fines that the court included in his sentencing. I feel sorry for his parents, as they will probably be his main source of commissary funds and, if so, some of the restitution will then be paid by them, indirectly of course. Garnishing money from BK's work wages will likely be another source, I assume.

A couple of posters on the last thread don't understand why Kohlberger wasn't forced to reveal the location of the knife. Why??? Once he pled guilty, it was no longer necessary to establish his guilt. We know that it was his DNA on the knife sheath. Clearly he ditched the knife. Who cares where it is?

He goes through a lot of the newly released documents.

@LAborn I was responding to a post of yours from way back in the previous thread, when the thread was shut down on p.83. So bringing it over here:

LAborn: “They're saying he may have at least 1 cellmate, maybe more. He strikes me as a loner and having someone in the space with him is going to be a kind of hell for him.”

My comment:
"L'enfer c'est les autres", ("Hell is other people") from Sartre in the play Huis Clos. Especially if you're stuck with them forever, as those three were in Huis Clos. That was their Hell, instead of fire and damnation. I hope it will be at least one form for BK, before his death. After death, another type of hell for all I care.

Arrogance, pure arrogance on display with him. You would have thought he may have been told to look less arrogant, if nothing else. He is just beyond words for me.

Agreed, and yes I understand.
Guess I was thinking more about what exactly happened in that house.
Anything that might help bring some type of closure for the families.
Is there something more they want to know, no matter how painful ?
Omo.

There are a couple of media links in the last thread that go over what his time will look like in prison. He will most likely be placed into solitary confinement by the prison admin for his own safety. He will be able to buy access to a TV and will have access to a tablet with access to email/internet.

Sadly, it looks like the commissary accounts can be contributed to by the public (though BK is not in the system yet), so all those creepy probergers can pay for his fines and his tv. 🤬

I wish they could limit it to family only.

Join Websleuths YouTube Live tonight at 10:30 P.M. Eastern as we discuss the victim impact statements in the Kohberger case.
How many of you stood up and yelled YES while pumping your fist when Kaylee's sister said "She would have kicked your 🤬🤬🤬**** ***"? I did. I was alone in my house and my dogs looked at me weird but I sure did. It felt great to hear her say that.
Yeah, he killed them like the coward he is. Snuck up on them in the middle of the night while they were sleeping. Maybe deep down inside he knows he would have lost a fair fight. Hence the sneak attack. He's disgusting.

Or people he can name.

No new people, no media mongers or lovesick sad sacks.

Several times in the document dump, the witnesses describe what they thought was a firework. Any thoughts on what this could be?

(For citation's sake, most recent I've read this: "At around 0400 or 0420 hours, [she] heard what she thought was a firework and saw a spark on the ground from under her door" - File: Supp 89_Redacted, page 1)

Yes, I know. I even watched the Brian Entin one.

I'm not sure why you responded to my post on "Hell is other people" with this statement?? I was responding to somebody else's post. You say yourself "most likely" which doesn't rule out the possibility that BK could be in with somebody else, and certainly doesn't mean some of us can't wish it on him.

Firstly thank you so much to all of you posting throughout today's sentencing. You really brought the experience of "live court" here to these pages!

As detailed in the autopsy reports, Kaylee was stabbed 20 times and her face totally disfigured 😞 as she attempted to "kick his f'kn a55" in defence. Xana was then stabbed 50 times, also fighting back in her defence and he had by that time fatally wounded Maddie, Kaylee and Ethan too.. all in around 12 minutes! Imagine the frenzy of effort from him. Sorry to be graphic but well over 100 knife wounds delivered by a hard thrust, a battering of a face, 2 fights and he was out the door in just 12 minutes! It's kind of incomprehensible really isn't it! The adrenaline that powered all that must have been phenomenal.
I wish he had just keeled over with cardiac arrest at the scene as he made his exit tbh!

Maddie, Kaylee, Xana and Ethan, your families did you proud today, they made us all very proud too, what wonderful people! your angel wings must have been fluttering in glee.
Your families can be free of this monster forever now and hopefully begin to heal their grief! Rest in peace up there #Idaho4

I listened to the judge’s remarks. Damn. He was good. He really summed everything up so perfectly and beautifully.
