GUILTY PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #114

I don't quite understand how merging threads and / or allowing threads to remain together prevent you from seeing how many new posts there are to read?

Perhaps it would help if I explained my motivation. In old versions of the board, threads with lots of pages loaded more slowly. This is no longer an issue. Also, splitting threads means you could no longer reply to a post in a closed thread. You could quote it, but the links between post and reply are broken. This makes it harder to follow a conversation when it splits across threads, and harder for search engines to know how to index our content – and lowers our search-rankings.
In threads below 1k posts, I could see oh this post now has 509 posts, and when I hit the thread it takes me to my last unread post, that number could be like 456, then I know I have roughly 50 posts to read.

In threads with over 1k posts it only says 1k or 2k, it does not give me the actual number of total posts.

So I understand, you mean this section right here? It used to say 509, but now it says 3K?

Hey folks,

Slightly off-topic admin's note: Websleuths is no longer splitting up long threads once they reach 50-ish pages, so I started to merge some of the longer threads into one single gargantuan thread. I started with this one (note that, as of this post, this thread has 166 pages), but one of the wrinkles I'm figuring out is what to do with the first-post in each thread.

You'll note that the first page now starts with the first-post from threads 114, 115, and 116. Weird things happen when I tried to delete those, so I'm leaving them there while I figure it out.

If anybody encounters weirdness from this thread, please DM me!
I LOVE IT!!! I've always wanted an easier way to search an entire thread topic but it's hard when some of them have so many 'threads' that have to be searched individually, one by one. Way cool!!

YES!!!! I can no longer see the actual post number of long threads and it is disrupting to me
I took off the filter that changed the number of replies from rounding to the nearest thousand for your theme. LMK if that works for you.

I always wondered why that was a rule, but only happened for certain popular cases, and not others.

  • Bryan Kohberger planned to call friends of the four University of Idaho students he murdered to testify for the defense at his trial, according to a recently unsealed court filing.
  • This included Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, the two surviving roommates who were home that night and have openly spoke about the trauma they continue to experience.
  • Friends Emily Alandt and Hunter Johnson were also on the list, as was the ex-boyfriend of Kaylee Goncalves, Jack DeCoeur.
  • Kohberger planned to call 138 people in total, according to the witness list.

What a sociopath. He gets off on inflicting pain.

The first 20 minutes of American Psycho answered for me all the questions I had about how BK got to be the monster he is. I finally got around to watching it for the first time last night.

He had stated (for some reason) that its his all time favorite movie. I really want to know how old/young he was when he first saw it. He was obviously titillated by it and if he began watching it repetitively at a pubescent or prepubescent age, it's likely he developed his sexual imprint from Bateman's example.

It explains his weird hair, his weird way of dressing (how odd especially for his age), his weird self-love selfies. I'd very much expect he had peel off facial masks in his cabinet along with other vanity products and worked out the way Bateman did, watched porn the way Bateman did, talked arrogantly to people the way Bateman did, treated women the way Bateman did and on and on. Id bet he looked in the mirror a million times and saw Bateman reflected back and was sexually aroused by the image. I think he was aroused by Bateman who over time morphed into himself.

Knowing of BK makes watching that movie hard but worthwhile if you want to see the making of a mad dog killer who for some odd reason thinks he's sexy, 🤮🤮🤮 And I'm convinced he was totally cosplayimg Bateman in his trips to Costco and the grocery store so shortly after his victory dance following his massacre spree. That was Bateman all the way.

While Bateman was in finance as a career, I saw on the menu screen that another Am Psycho movie was made 2 years later wherein the lead character and sociopathic killer became a criminologyy student and teaching assistant. 👀🤮

Ugh... this makes me glad that I was careful about what I let my kids watch when they were young and I still had the ability to do that. The amygdala, the part of the brain that regulates emotion and is stunted by trauma, is not fully grown until about 23-26 years of age. Young brains arent equipped to process horror properly. I understand lots of kids do see lots of human pathology and don't become psychopaths because of it but one can never know when a trauma-bond obsession might begin and be irretrievable.

What a relief BK will die a slow death in a cage though he does make me question whether some people are just a waste of oxygen.

I wonder how much power his attorney would have had over who would be called to testify. Surely 138 people is totally unreasonable. Thankfully, we won’t have to find out!

IMO BK pleaded guilty to avoid actual psychological testing.

He didn't want the world to know what he is.

Coward hiding behind a mask.

But then we all saw the thumbs-up selfie. BK unmasked.

Humanity at its worst.

Yep, truly.

I'm convinced BK peeled that mask off in front of a mirror a million times and saw Bateman reflected back. He walked through life cosplaying Bateman; I'd bet on it. I think he's had an obsessive crush on Bateman since he first saw that movie and I'd also bet he was titillated by that character's nude male scenes and also the way he slaughtered women.

She had no defense. Her art, such as it is, would be on cross examination during the State's case in chief. Her bread and butter IMO was going to be sly questions, all of them objected to and sustained.

After all her noise, it would have been zero surprise to me if she had rested right after the State did.

Another user pointed out to me that, once I added all the threads from 115 and 116 to this thread, this thread suddenly got more "New" posts, which might have broken the number of new posts you had left to read.

If that is indeed what happened, I'm going to have to look into this further before merging any more threads! I didn't want this to be disruptive in any way, but I appreciate the feedback!

I was so confused when I clicked the thread today and was thrown back to "new" posts... dated September. Thought I was having deja-vu reading about BK's body shape in Costco. 😅

Thank you for your hard work at WS. Hope the new changes get ironed out quickly.
Will there still be a limit to the number of pages in a thread, just higher?

Another reason to have accepted the plea deal.

I honestly don’t think Dylan was capable of testifying at all. She is so desperately traumatized. Can you imagine if she had been called to testify for the Defense???

He was going to enjoy the show. Re-traumatizing the victims’ friends. Putting them through it - literally. He would have been over the moon excited - maybe even sexually.

He was taking back some control. He’s all about that.

He is sick and twisted beyond anything I’ve seen before. His need to hurt others and continue to hurt them is unbelievable. His needs to control.

I don’t know how his family could stand him.

He needs to go away. Just stop. Who’s paying for his lawyers?

Yup; very very Bateman-esque. -- After watching his favorite movie, American Psycho, I finally understood how this human, born an innocent and pure baby, became an inhuman monster.

I wonder if his family of origin realizes this about him and, if so, when did they know?

I really want to know why he asked for the plea deal.

Could it really be because his sister was set to testify?

For a guy who needs to be in complete control I don’t believe that his mother convinced him.

What was it? AT knows.

April. The State was pushing for a full evaluation.

The results of that works have IMO devastated what was left of their defenseless defense.

Personality disorders, narcissism, a cluster of disorders that would absolutely coincide with the crimes he committed. Also it would destroy her mitigation experts for the sentencing phase.

AT opened the door and the State was gunning to blow it off its hinges.

The most important outcome is that he won't harm anyone else again.
