Seriously. He spoke to them for hours, and it was a regular thing. I can’t handle a phone conversation longer than a minute.

“He had his parents saved as "Mother" and "Father" in his phone, says Barnhart, and would often call his mother first followed immediately after by his father if he did not get an answer.

"And he would go back and forth texting: 'Father, why did mother not respond? Why is she not answering the phone?" Barnhart says.

Barnhart notes that Kohberger had completely powered his phone off between 2:54 a.m. and 4:48 a.m, a move likely meant to protect himself while he committed the murders.

In the end, it was a move that proved to be incredibly revealing, she explains.

"When he powered it off, it was from a human pressing a button, and the battery was at 100 percent charged," Barnhart says.

I am quite amused that xxx214 is feeling stressed by taunting through the air vents. Poor thing. He thought he was going to have peace and quiet in prison — like a sabattical — so he could do more reading on mass murderers, research, and finish his PhD thesis. It probably interrupts his daytime naps, too. MOO.

I can actually understand entering your parents into your phone as "Mom" and "Dad", but Mother, Father, Sister is straight out of the '50's and I have my sister entered by her name.

Yeah, no PhD for him, he thought prison would be like county jail, when it is cages at times and not cells. So sound is traveling and he is whiney and the inmates are enjoying his pain.

Brian Entin gave good info about BK’s situation- response by the prison to his complaints. BK doesn’t have the self awareness to see that he is easily agitated- surrounded by agitators that enjoy his discomfort. So long has he isn’t physically injured- they don’t seem to care.

I wondered what media access he has, he is supposed to have a tablet, with music, and a TV.
Supposedly a hunger strike took place recently, gang members protested so his complaints are not a priority.
C McDonough says his psychology is being used against him, but he isn’t being physically harmed.
Prison officials are keeping him in solitary J Block as he has a target on him. Exactly as I had thought- taking him out would help prisoners make a name for themselves. What do they have to lose if they already have life??

Yeah, so many will poo poo Nancy Grace, due to her drama but she was a career special prosecutor for serial murder and sexual assault cases.

I might be wrong but what I got from the discussion on NG was that, if by some fluke xxx214 were to be granted an appeal or his sentence was somehow overturned, the Feds have grounds (crossing state lines) to step in with new charges and a trial. I think it’s only being discussed as possible intimidation because it’s been said xxx214 was going to file an appeal.

I couldn’t tell if SG was pushing for this or initiated a dialogue with media and/or Federal prosecutors — I’m certain he would want Federal charges filed with DP — but don’t know if he got the discussion started. MOO.

My personal hope is that xxx214 is gone for good. Another trial would be putting him back in the limelight, reliving the trauma for families and victims, and more money spent for a hopeless sicko — all for DP by firing squad? He’s effectively gotten the DP with the added torture of voices from the air vents, needing to constantly look over his shoulder, and no hope ever of physical heteros€xual intimacy. OMO.

I think BK is weird for a lot of reasons, but I'm not going to judge him by how he has his parents named in his phone.

As LInasK said, I too have my parents listed on my phone as mom and dad. In some families the terms used for the same people are "mother" and "father," so I don't think that's unusual at all, despite how foreign and unduly formal it sounds to my own ears.

I want to know more, too. Why such lengthy and frequent calls to "Mother"? I'm very curious about that mother-son relationship. Like you say, the reason/s for the calls would be connected to Number One, aka him (she makes him feel coddled, safe, free from judgment). His calls would have nothing to do with "How are things going, Mother? What's new with you today? What's shaking with the excess zucchini this year and how's your ankle?"

There was speculation that maybe the guilty plea came about, at least in part, due to parental influence. If so, imo that would have been solely because they convinced him that admitting guilt would be better for him. (They may have years of experience broaching topics artfully.) He would not have made the plea decision to spare them anything imho. His empathy chip fell out on the factory floor on the morning of day one or I seriously miss my guess.

Autistic person here, I have my mother under 'mum' and my siblings under their names, like most people would.

But judging his phone labelling seems all a bit redundant when he murdered four strangers in their home.

I mean, a lot of people do weird things socially and don't kill anyone.

I didn't watch this particular programme
but your observation reminds me of programmes in my country with "Talking Heads"/Experts/Journalists
with people interrupting one another, some even aggressively hahaha
or all talking at the same time,
meaning it is all unintelligible for the viewers

Whether he was discussing with her some of what he did, even if painting it differently than him being the perp (e.g., “I just witnessed…” “I was out stargazing and…” “I saw on SM there were these horrific murders near me….”, and needed her advice and support to get through that morning, and then took the selfie after cleaning up and modeling a new shirt IIRC she gave him (or gave him $ for?) to show to “Mother” he was okay. Wow…. MOO

All of that is insane. Did he have separation anxiety? They are wrong about the 8:03. He returned to the crime scene from 9:12 to 9:21.

The length of that call would line up ending the call as he was leaving his apartment .... just enough drive time to arrive near the crime scene at 9:12. I think that's what they meant.

I wonder if he told Mother he was leaving.
