GUILTY PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #114

I know. I've wondered the same thing. I'm pretty close with my 2 grown kids. But I can't imagine my son wanting to talk to me on the phone, everyday for hours. I have no idea what we would discuss for that long.

My daughter and I do talk almost every day. But not for hours and hours.

It does not sound very healthy, especially given the long description of his lengthy P____N addiction. Somehow the lengthy list of those video titles, which include forced abductions, assaults, etc, and then info about him speaking to his mother daily for hours----the mixture seems toxically unhealthy. IMO

and you don't need to set a grown son to bed at night. That's the kind of thing being described in the Levy interview, to stop him spiralling. ( Levy interview with the two Cellebrite investigators linked yesterday )

We spent ages here on WS remarking on whether or how unusual it was for a parent to do that 5 day drive, twice. Now we have the new context, he actually needed a minder. Independent living - in WA - was a big gamble.

Same.

I have three adult kids in his age range, plus a niece I helped raise. I notice when one is having a tough time (a break up, stress at work), they like to talk to me more often, though not necessarily about the issue directly. I think it's just grounding to talk to Mom. My advice on how to pick produce at the farmers' market might be a comfort when you're under pressure on the job, ykwim? So, the topic of the conversations with Mother might not really shed light on the actual crimes, idk.

However, I think his conversations with Mother are over the top and signal more than just a tough stretch. His demands on her time are concerning, for one thing. If I sensed too much dependency on me, I would try to ease the adult child toward weaning off the phone calls. "Call me the day after tomorrow with an update," and encourage independence. Maybe Mother did that or maybe his situation was too dire and precarious in her mind to let go, idk.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, Dotta. Specifically as concerns the fact that he called his mother first thing only a very short time after he killed four people and talked to her for hours.

Did he disclose anything probative? Probably not, but it does seem he felt he needed those hours talking to her to help him self regulate and level out after the murders. And that's fair game for discussion.

MOO

Also, I think that Howard Blum may have got it right - that BK took that plea not only because of the failed motions but because the Dateline show aired and there was a concern one may have had to testify (Family members were on the Pros list at one stage although Thompson has since said that they later decided Pros wouldn't call them.)

Not for a moment do I think his parents knew what he'd done or that he was capable of anything like this but his Mom may have thought he sounded unusually agitated or triumphant or whatever

ok I'll cop to it - I have used those terms and so have many others in my huge immediate family and extended family but the one cousin who does it all the time, I consider him 'weird' 🤣

the weird thing about the 'SISTER' for me is that he has two sisters so which one did he not have in his phone or was she under a different name, maybe even her first name?
I really want to know which sister he had listed as 'sister' although my guess is the actress.

Yes Bobby Giacone was talking about how when - if ever - SA & harassment/prowlers etc are reported they typically get reported to campus police instead of direct to The Police.
Younger women also less likely to report minor stuff like prowling ( I appreciate that even if police do get a call about an incident the prowlers had already gone, but at least they'd have complete data to monitor scale & patterns. )

Anyway back to BK. I stubbornly refuse to accept that he wasn't doing this lower-level stuff pre WSU. The NCC & De Sales periods during the periods he was attending in person. ( I appreciate we'll never get that info, in some cases it's not in their interest to disclose, in others it's protected info. ) Looks like BK was prolific around Moscow & Pullman. Hard to believe that this habitual behavior was brand new from summer 2022.

Similarly, like many others on WS, I feel sure he planned murder before he arrived in WA. For him, this was to be one of many.
I also wonder what else BK was up to. LE disclosed he was in the vicinity of 1122 King Rd on numerous occasions. Was he circling around any other areas in Moscow or Pullman? Which other cellphone towers did he connect to on a frequent basis?

Considering BK's mindset, his fellow classmates and professors could have also been targets. I bet the thought at least crossed his mind.

“Sucks for you, you didn’t know what you were doing.”

How professional.

I also love that in the year of our Lord 2025, we’re still burning CDs.

Exactly! I am curious where else he visited frequently. Was he casing other houses too? I strongly suspect, YES, he was looking in windows and driving by other houses. Perhaps entering houses.

The King Road house was the target that particular night, but I'm guessing he had a few places he haunted.

Agree. All MOO.
He decided he would kill people and then shopped his idea around.
Everyone he ever came in contact with was in danger, as his idea became a plan and then found a target. He literally asked other murderers how they chose a target. Thank you MPD and supporting agencies for getting this killer locked up.
The sheath IDing the specific weapon type and DNA IDing the person was the mistake. Had he not left it, a blurry white car would be their best evidence, and without more to get probable cause for searches, the turned off phone might never have been uncovered, without the specific knife type the KBar purchase never uncovered.
Basically Kaylee G. Is the hero here. SHE FOUGHT and paid for her fighting with extra violence towards her, but her fight caused him to lose the sheath at the Crime Scene.
So KG you put him in that cell, we thank you that he isn't still out there, a having gained experience and committing more error free versions of 1122.

The theory now is
that it was Xana who made him leave the sheath behind
as he raced after her to the bedroom.

When his plan fell apart
as an unexpected and wide awake witness appeared.

He was even forced to talk to her:
"I'm going to help you"

It reminds me of Lucy L's infamous line:
"Trust me, I'm a nurse".

Or, simply "chaos" made him leave the sheath behind. I don't think he factored in chaos.
