GUILTY PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #114

Another thing.
His father driving across the country to take him home for Christmas.
Really??? 😮
There is ✈️ transport in the US, right? 🤣

That is definitely an anomaly.

I think back to a relative of mine, he was sick as a child, had a few surgeries. So, his mother coddled him. Then he had "oppositional defiant disorder", before that even had a name.

And everything revolved around him. To "keep the peace". Everyone placated him, it was crazy to see it, like a little kingdom. He was the center. He had problems in school, in employment. He actually did become an officer in a detention center, oddly enough, and he kept that job for over 25 years.

He'll just be given a spork. ;)

RichardAllen (Delphi thread) permanently ruined sporks for me.

There's actually a while industry behind prison cutlery. To reduce weaponization and self-harm. Lord, my search history.

BK is going to learn quickly how threatening self-harm isn't going to work, as it maybe previously had. Prisons take that stuff seriously. Instead of getting more of what he thinks he is entitled to, he's likely to get less. For his own safety.

New house, Bryan, new rules.

This is very common among both undergraduate students and single graduate students in the U.S. It can be a great time to spend time alone with your son or daughter and enjoy a cross-country trip with them. And maybe his father enjoyed it.

Re Father enjoying

Especially during Police 🚨 stops 😁

Nearly 4000 km

It's like the longest European driving route: Lisbon to Vienna is around 3,255 km.

Phew!

Phew!

Two traffic stops.

You can almost hear it, "Let me handle this, Bryan." Not because he knew what Bryan had done in Idaho, but IMO because he long knew Bryan's long answers. Better to be cooperative and friendly and how LE will leave with his ticket book.

Outside of violence, I can't think of much I'd enjoy less than 4000k in a car with BK. Captive audience to his chronologues.

But just suppose BKs father was a talker? That he would be the one to ramble on about whatever? In that case, he might enjoy a trip with his son. As a thought.

I don't know the family. I do know the father called LE on BK when BK stole his sister's phone, so they didn't just let him get by with anything and everything. I also know you cannot stop someone from destroying themselves past a certain age. You can lead people with mental heath or addiction issues to help, but you can't make them do the work.

I don't doubt that BK wants to be in solitary. If he has his tablet and phone calls, he's safer anyway. But also IMO, he is setting the stage so that if anything happens to him, there are grounds for a lawsuit, whether by him should he survive or by his parents should he not. Paper trail required. I don't like it, but I understand it. It forces the prison to do their due diligence.

All MOO.

What makes you believe his family "allowed him to rule the roost," though?
I dont know about "ruling" the roost but his parents very apparently never established appropriate boundaries that allowed for age and developmentally appropriate growth. Talking to his mother for hours, several times a day, and how many times did she say to him "its was nice hearing from you and now I have things to get done and I'm sure you do too"? Then set a more appropriate parameter regarding when and for how long they talk. Surely she and everyone in that family had to know this was NOT a healthy relationship and even if it was obvious he had serious problems, this was NOT the way to launch him into a healthy normal life.

Is there ANY evidence they ever got him professional counseling as a child, a teen, a young adult? Did they get counseling themselves to help *them* understand how to help him grow into adult responsible maturity? My contact who specializes in adults on the spectrum has said that the adult clients in her statewide program do not talk to their mothers this often and for this long nor would they develop their own normal lives if they did. The time BK spent/spends talking to her so excessively prevented him then and prevents him now from adapting to real life.

Knowing how BK idolized his hero Bateman, the slasher serial killer of women from American Psycho, and reading of BK's long loooong & excessively frequent mommy talks, the age old dynamic of Oedipus and Yocasta comes to mind. Without a Yocasta, there could be no Oedipus. I am betting that BK's bizarre sexuality was twisted by a combination of his Bateman worship and an oversized Oedipus complex involving his mommy.

I'd give a pretty penny to know what conversations his poor siblings have had over the years with their parents in attempts to shed some light and common sensibility on this aberrant behavior.

I hope they are all getting the help and support they need.i suspect at least one of them is not.

Is counseling/mental health care available to people serving life in prison?

"During Christmas 🎄 holidays,
St. Vincent de Paul
-- a charity organization --
runs a program called 'Cookies for Corrections',
and they deliver donated boxes of cookies to every Idaho Department of Correction facility,
including the Idaho Maximum Security Institution.

Among the cookies,
there are some famous brand names,
such as Oreo, Chips Ahoy, and Nutter Butter. 🍪

(Nutter Butter??? 🤣)

Of course,
Kohberger made the inmate list to receive the cookies.

Speaking of food ...
the prison menu consists of 'Holiday Turkey Roast',
but since Kohberger is a strict vegan,
he'll probably go for the 'Holiday Stuffed Pepper'
-- paired with vegan mashed potatoes and vegan pumpkin pie."

Well, I'm not American, but I don't know how many of those are vegan.

Based on history, I expect that, if BK is given a cookie, he'll find a reason to object to the about the sprinkles.

He will probably complain as he can’t be assured they are purely vegan. 🤭

Wonder who doesn’t make the list for cookies? Seems like they should be a treat for cooperation and a good attitude.

The gist of it is that he is threatening to harm himself if the guards don't move him away from inmates who are constantly tormenting him. You know... more Karen stuff.
All that will get him, and it will undoubtedly, is even more restrictions than he's already under, such as not allowing him anything at all in his cell. I mean anything, like not even toilet paper, toothbrush, drink cup, books, nothing, not even a blanket. They'll bring him TP every time he has to use it, same with toothbrush, etc., and they'll take it away from him as soon as he's done with it.

IME, that's what they do whenever you even mention self harm.

Oh, and they should also not allow him any commissary/canteen until he's off suicide restrictions. That'll really upset him, I bet. All ime, imo.

Do they really get a holiday meal, even a veganized version like vegan pie? It's absurd to me. Many people who aren't violent criminals don't have access to such nice meals.

I also recall, waaaay back near the beginning of the first thread when this crime initially took place, someone mentioned that with PhD students and professors, a certain amount of allowance is given for odd behaviours and 'eccentricities'. I haven't read the allegations, so I don't know if they could fall under this within the lense of a college campus.
As a current PhD student, I can confirm that academia mostly does not attract sane and normal people lol. Most of us are the good kind of weird (unsurprisingly, a program where you spend several years studying one usually very niche topic attracts a lot of neurodivergent folks), but you do come across the occasional one (nearly always a white man) who is actively anti-social but gets excused because "he's just so intelligent that he doesn't understand other people" or some such BS (and then once he gets a professorship, it's "but he's contributed so much to his field!" 🙄)

I believe Oreos are vegan, but I'm sure he'd find some other reason to complain

He'd want their Golden Double Stuf's with double filling and vanilla wafers instead of traditional chocolate.

The paper is patiently waiting to be scribbled upon with complaint hehe
The 🖊️ is also waiting...
