While being questioned at the Pullman Police holding facility ,the driver once again said, to a third officer, "Now I have to testify in that big murder case here, 'cause I'm the Door Dash driver."

When asked, she clarified the "murder case with the college girls ... I'm the DoorDash driver, I saw Bryan there. I parked next to him."

Prosecutors have already signaled they will want to use Kernodle's DoorDash order in their case against Kohberger. They have told the court the driver's presence at the crime scene would help them establish a "timeline of events" for Kernodle before the killings, and to corroborate their witnesses' testimony, according to court records.

The case against Kohberger is largely circumstantial. As of now, the DoorDash driver could well be one of only two people still alive who could put the intruder in the vicinity of the crime scene on the night the students were killed.

Also expected to testify - the girls' surviving roommate who told police she saw a masked, male intruder with "bushy eyebrows" in the home right around the time the killings occurred. That descriptor was given to investigators early on, and has been a hallmark of the case since the start.

Thanks, I’m definitely revealing my ignorance about Door Dash! I think it’s possible that Xana noticed a car appearing and reappearing multiple times before the DoorDash driver arrived. Because their address is so wonky, she may have been concerned the driver was lost. Do the drivers text back and forth with clients? Also, are clients told the make and model of the driver’s car?
You are in no way ignorant about DD besides I'm sure it's different depending on location and I am in NC. To answer your questions, yes, they do message with us. I get messages from them saying they're at the restaurant, still waiting at the restaurant, finally on the way or if they don't have anything. Also, we do receive their type & color of their vehicle and a picture of the driver.

Believe me, I wish I wasn't so up on DD. It's hurts in the purse!

I'm not sure they will be able to do that much damage to the DDD's testimony.

We don't know if her later arrest for DUI will even be admitted into evidence because it does not seem relevant to the night of the crime, imo.

And they will have evidence of her travels on the night of the murders, showing she was at the same time and place as BK's car, allegedly. And proof from her job that she would be parked right by the home---picture of delivery bag included.

So what is AT going to go after her about? And if she goes at her too hard it could turn off the jury because she is just a hard working delivery driver who happened to be in a dangerous situation through no fault of her own. Attacking her seems a bad call, imo.
The defense can fling mud at the DD driver, I guess, but this is a simple, verifiable situation. Xana ordered DoorDash, the DD driver delivered it to the house. What she did was timed. She saw BK's car. The video verifies it didn't have a front plate. I agree that getting personal about the DD driver will backfire because all the prosecution has to do is ask her if she's ever afraid when she delivers at night and sees a man hanging around in a car near the house where she has to deliver food.

Sometimes on our app, it says up top, "not all drivers are picked up by GPS tracker"

I guess some old cars are not tracked by that system? I wonder what type/year of car she was driving?
Interesting, I don't think I've had that happen before, but now I'll keep an eye out. A funny thing that has happened a couple of times is it tells us our driver is on a bicycle!! I am like he is NEVER getting here on a bicycle in the time they said he'd arrive! When they got there though they were in a car not a bike!

“Inside the Bryan Kohberger Trial: The Idaho Student Murders” will be the first time that “48 Hours” has covered a murder trial in both video and audio form in real-time.

Peter Van Sant is set to host “Inside the Bryan Kohberger Trial: The Idaho Student Murders,” debuting July 26 with three background episodes in anticipation of the trial. After the trial starts, the show will release one episode a week to detail what’s happening in court, including exclusive reporting as well as analysis. The podcast can also be found on streaming services like Pluto TV, as well as on YouTube.

“These horrific murders have shaken me to the core. During my four years attending nearby Washington State University, Moscow, Idaho, was like a second home,” Van Sant said in a statement. “I have followed this tragedy from the beginning, soaking in every twist and turn—every new detail which has emerged. Working with my ’48 Hours’ team, we have uncovered never-before-heard content from some of the families of the lost students, along with incisive commentary from top criminal and legal experts.”

In a surprising development, a prison guard from Pennsylvania has been named as a witness in the upcoming trial of Bryan Kohberger, who is accused of murdering four University of Idaho students

The purpose of Searfoss and Somma's testimonies remains unclear, as it is not specified whether the defense or prosecution seeks their input. Somma's connection to Kohberger stems from their shared attendance at Monroe Career & Technical Institute, where Kohberger was removed from a youth law enforcement program following complaints from female students

@Ghostwheel

I think that is likely X had her ear buds in because what little I know of Tik Tok is it's dancing and singing. So she's munching away and BK opens the door and goes upstairs unseen or heard. Then X goes towards the kitchen and sees the open door and says "someone is here". I think she went to the kitchen because her sack of food was found there.

But the problem there is if X did that wouldn't DM have seen her? Unless she put her bag down on the counter and said "someone is here" as she turned to go to her room and DM didn't see her. Shut the door and locked it.

Some think X went up the stairs to check on KG and MM and got chased by BK. But the problem there is if X made that statement I think she would have yelled it as she ran down the steps to her room. DM just missed seeing them.

Perhaps the intonation of the voice was left out because if they said DM reported she heard a voice scream that would imply all sorts of things.

One last thing I'd love to know is where did they find X's phone?

I'll be glad to get some answers and get more information. BK had to be covered in blood. I would think MM and KG's blood be found on someone or something in that bedroom.

DM is lucky to be alive but what an awful burden for her to carry through life. Sadly, the only consolation is even if she'd called the cops and the caught BK at the scene they would most likely have already perished.

DM and BF get a lot of criticism and so forth but as you mention in your last sentence, let me make this crystal clear to everyone.

BF and DM did do all the right things because they are ALIVE. Any deviation from what they did could have had different consequences. Thank God they made it though that horrendous night. They did the best they could with their information and I am extremely happy they can tell their story.

Remember, college kids grew up with internet, etc.... It is totally normal for them to use their phones. I was at a home and the daughter was upstairs on the 3rd floor and the son in the basement. The mother asked the son to go upstairs to tell the daughter dinner was ready. Instead he called her or text her on his phone. The mom laughed and said things are sure different now.

Has it been said if the guard is a witness for state or defense?

It's either gonna be state - guard could testify regarding his egotistical behaviour, possibly asking if he's famous blah blah, or testify how he showed zero signs/the opposite of being this weak feeble thing who can't even button up his shirt.
Or defense - likely something teeny and pointless where the guards being made to testify as he saw him drop his spork once and AT thinks that it will prove to the jury that he has zero dexterity and couldn't ever possibly be able to hold a knife 🙄

Yes, your reasoning above added to the thoughts of safety for a woman out alone at 4 am, I think she used the front door. So much safer to be on the front steps under a porch light, near the Main Street and visible by neighbours etc.

A DD driver at 4am has to be vigilant and aware of robbery or carjacking and a woman has added fears about assault or kidnapping. So I do believe she used the front door.

@Chloegirl, you’re local to the area, right? Were non-students, especially women, pretty safety conscious at night back in 2022?

Anyway, this night-time bodycam footage from the first noise complaint at 1122 King Road in September 2022 shows how dark the front parking area was at night:

This level of darkness made me think it would be difficult for the DD driver (MM) to see into Kohberger’s car without her headlights shining directly into his car. However, headlights facing in the direction of Kohberger’s car would not guarantee that MM could see into his car for various reasons (such as light scattering, the exact location of the headlight beam, and whether or not BK had tinted windows).

Now, if Xana left the front light on for the DD driver, that might have provided enough light for MM to see at least the profile of a nearby driver.

If Xana instead asked the DD driver to drop off her food next to the slider, she most likely turned on the bright back patio light. MM, in no position to clamber up the rocky slope to the slider, would park on the side street, adjacent to the back of the house, then walk behind DM’s bedroom and onto the patio without too much difficulty. It would still be pretty dark, and I personally wouldn’t agree to do that at 4 am.

Note that in the following images, there is an additional light source (from the Queen Road apartments?) that was not present in September 2024:

The only problem with the second scenario is that it doesn’t allow MM to park “right next to Bryan” since two cars can’t park abreast on the side street. Even at 4 am that would be a bad idea since it’s a dark narrow street, and MM wouldn’t want to leave her car unattended for even a short period of time IMO. Also, MM implied BK was already there when she parked, so by parking right next to him, she would have blocked him in (presuming other cars lined the rest of the street). This would not be possible since BK’s car was spotted on the 1112 King Rd camera at 3:58 am as he was exiting the area, but MM didn’t deliver the food until 3:59 pm.

BBM

We can’t tell yet, based on the single court filing for the two new witnesses shared on the Pennsylvania Court Cases of Public Interest page for Kohberger.

Each individual filing for the original five witnesses includes a subpoena from Anne Taylor, whereas the new filing lacks a subpoena for either new witness.

I am new to this so im sure it's been answered a million times already.

But what is the surviving flatmates reasoning for not calling 911 until 7 hours later and thinking one of the victims was "unconscious and wouldn't wake up". The scene had blood all over the walls from a report I have read and I am sure it would be pretty obvious that someone had been stabbed to death rather than just unconscious.

Whose room is this one?IMG_3183.webp

That is the window of the common room, where I imagined Xana looking out the window. It’s the window with the palm print.

The staircase to the first floor is right next to the window. Here’s a screenshot that shows the window from inside the common room:

I wonder if the guard is being called for the possible punishment phase. In the defense's motion to continue, they cite a case, Skipper v South Carolina, that held it was unconstitutional to exclude evidence that the defendant had adjusted well to incarceration between arrest and trial in considering punishment. In Skipper, the trial court had ruled that testimony of the defendant's two jailers was irrelevant and inadmissible in the sentencing phase. However, the Supreme Court said that "evidence of adjustability to life in prison unquestionably goes to a feature of the defendant's character that is highly relevant to a jury's sentencing determination."

Has it been reported anywhere which portion of the trial he's being called for?
