Of course. My point was that it's an absurd idea, not even a theory, which would require evidence. But I'm interested in people who seem to need a conspiracy and will spin ridiculous interpretations to support it, e.g., the way the Sandy Hook conspiracists were sure that the zeroed out tax listings were payoffs to families when that was just how the system worked. This one starts with survivors and nearby students and the fast timeline, I suppose, or just a need to make BK less culpable.

These TikTok people and their ilk remind me of the evil people who call parents of missing children and claim to be their kidnappers. Or similar. People who insert themselves into a case with the apparent purpose of hurting already victimized people. There aren't many of them, I'm sure, but the fact that they exist at all and can now use a big social media platform makes me rethink my views on human nature.

Some people are just not very good.

Do any of you know when in August the trial is supposed to begin? All I can find is “August.” I want to stream this -hope it’s available. TIA.

Sorry for that
No, I’m sorry, @Sachi—you did nothing wrong! I was just showing you why other people might misinterpret a post due to the way WS omits the original quotations in a quoted post. There is nothing we can do about this other than referring back to the original post (by clicking the arrow at the top of the quoted post) if what we see doesn’t make sense.

ETA:

One can add the omitted quotations back to a quoted post, but it’s a pain.

August 18, if the jury is seated by then.

A Pennsylvania judge on Monday ordered that three people whose testimony has been requested by defense attorneys will have to travel to Idaho to appear at the trial of a man accused of stabbing to death four college students in 2022.

The defense subpoenas were granted regarding a boxing trainer who knew Bryan Kohberger as a teenager, a childhood acquaintance of Kohberger's and a third man whose significance was not explained

I understand that for the defense, this is a victory.

For the Pennsylvanians involved, IMO this is an enormous encumbrance. It’s nearly cross-country from Idaho, and I presume they have jobs, families or other reasons why this would be extremely inconvenient for them.

Nevertheless, now they must appear.

Two people who knew BK when he was young and then a third whose connection we do not yet know.

I wonder what the defense thinks they have to offer that would exculpate the adult Bryan.

Ah, ETA, just saw @MassGuy above regarding Ms. Courtwright.

Oh, Boy, AT, a line up of people who aren't -- how can I say -- feeling the love to be called to testify for the defense.
Nice way of putting this @Megnut …. Sure sounds like these people don’t want to go and not just because of the travel.

Andreola said his "relationship with Bryan Kohberger has been minimal and distant since high school," with their last "significant interaction" taking place in 2020, two years before the stabbings.

"If I'm brought out there, I believe the attention will be multiple times greater than the attention that I've received already," Andreola argued.

Imagine having a tangential connection to someone who ten or more years later commit an unthinkable constellation of crimes. And you're forced to answer yes/no questions about interactions back then, knowing what he's done since. Anonymity, gone. And the vinegar taste, having to testify for him. I don't envy them.

Could be that they aren't unwilling and want to testify on his behalf but that's not the vibe I'm vibbing.

Whatever hardships or successes BK endured/experienced in high school, he has managed quite well as an adult, perfectly capable of making life decisions.

I suspect some of these witnesses will never actually be on the stand, airmen who would testify to not much.

Details about today’s hearing in Pennsylvania, dealing with if certain defense witnesses will have to testify.

The judge ruled in favor of the defense in regard to all of the witnesses who appeared today.

There are hearings scheduled for the rest in the near future.

These witnesses include a high school acquaintance of Kohberger, a man who trained Kohberger at a boxing gym, and a third man whose connection was unclear, but didn’t oppose the summons.

The defense is reaching!

BBM.. If they are not unwilling, and want to testify on his behalf, they would not be in a hearing to force them to comply with a summons. I can pretty much guarantee you that at least most of them, were completely shocked, and perplexed to get a summons to appear, and none of them want any part in this trial. JMO

So do we know what this witness might be offering?

Ah, ETA, just saw @MassGuy above regarding Ms. Courtwright.

I’m wondering if they might be for the mitigation /penalty part of the trial only. That seems to be all the defense is interested in really anyway since they don’t have any real defense against his guilt.

sadly I don't think his spacial disorders, autism, visual problems or heroin addiction are going to earn him any sympathy. it is likely that most of the jurors have no experience with visual snow or
spectrum related disorders and definitely aren't going to have sympathy for a middle class teen from a gated community that became a junky at 14.

nope...no one is going to say ..oh poor Bryan he couldn't see well..or poor Bryan he was a brilliant student but had autism and became an intravenous drug user and finally killed four students in their
bedrooms. mOO

I agree pretty much.
There are too many other people with the same disorders and challenges that do not develop into night crawling mass murders for this to fly very far.

this is what I do think though. they might resist putting him to death because he is so young. that is the only real mitigating card I think he can play. mOO

Thiugh BK is young, the four people he brutally murdered were all even younger. I'll frankly be surprised if any mitigators the defense offers has any impact on any of the jurors. After hearing five or six weeks of testimony, and seeing voluminous evidence, complete with gruesome photos, about what this monster did to four INNOCENT YOUNG college students, I believe they will not even tarry for long before returning with a death sentence verdict. totally...I wouldn't put much stock in the age angle..but even less in the others which are about as sympathetic as a migraine headache or Twinkie defense. mOO
