We have the possibility of something much better than that. We'll get the evidence via discovery, but it can never paint the whole picture. Trial is better than just getting discovery, but one thing trumps them all.
I believe in Idaho and many other states too, waiving the right to appeal as part of a guilty plea is generally considered constitutionally sound (so substantive due process rights are not violated ) if the waiver is made knowingly and voluntarily, without coercion. MOWait a sec:

So you can plead guilty without confessing? He’s pleading guilty, not “no contest” or Alford. By confessing, do you mean spilling all the details— location of the knife, motive, etc—the things that are driving me batty?
I respectfully disagree to this. I think for the defence to approach the DA and ask for a deal this shows that this case was absolutely a slam dunk for the verdict. The only thing they couldn't be sure on was a unanimous vote for the death penalty. If there were holes in the case, then no way would the defence approach the DA and ask them to present a deal
I disagree that there's only one reason the DA proposed this after being asked by the defense. I think what the Prosecutor has said is likely the real truth of it. The monster pleads guilty and will never be a free man again, no appeals process, no parole hearings, no keeping the families held emotionally hostage with any of that for decades. It will be a Godsend in the years to come. AJMO

If he isn’t forced to utter his plea, I will be absolutely enraged! Not only should he *himself* have to say the words, but I’m hoping he must allocute, disclose where he disposed of the weapon and explain himself.
It's a possibility, but not guaranteed. We don't know if the state made that a requirement, if the defense offered that to sweeten the pot, if the judge will require that, or if there's no such requirement at all. Wednesday will be big.
Not so sure about how full a confession it will be since, IMO, it would involve a lot of x-rated, violent fantasies.

Nah. Prisons are full of gang members and murderers, yes, but not someone like Kohberger who committed a quadruple homicide for "no reason." Nobody respects that. He won't fit in, he's not affiliated and he has zero street smarts. Throw in his very strange demeanor, and I think the other inmates will target him fast. JMO
