Wait so does this mean we'll never get any answers?
I really wanted to know, why that house, why those victims, how long had he planned this for... I was hoping at least some of that would be answered at trial.
We have the possibility of something much better than that. We'll get the evidence via discovery, but it can never paint the whole picture. Trial is better than just getting discovery, but one thing trumps them all.

Bryan Kohberger offering up a confession as part of his plea. We don't know if that's going to happen, but if it does, we'll get more answers than we ever thought possible.

I don’t think he cares about his parents. If he did he wouldn’t have committed 4 murders just for fun.

He would have if he thought he would never get caught.

Which is, IMO, exactly what he thought.

Wait a sec:
We already hypothesized that the court-appointed counsel has laid the ground work for an appeal premised on "ineffective assistance". Yes?

Second: I find it hard to believe that, within the precedential penumbra of Frankenstinian 'substantive due process', an accused's waiver of appellate rights could be found to be constitutional! Period!
What is the deal with these prosecutors? They don't seem to able to see past their nose(s). 🤬
To add insult to injury, a pile of pabulum is offered to the victims.

Now please correct me if wrong:
Our Patience-of-Job-Trial Judge is empowered to reject any plea deal(s).🤨
I believe in Idaho and many other states too, waiving the right to appeal as part of a guilty plea is generally considered constitutionally sound (so substantive due process rights are not violated ) if the waiver is made knowingly and voluntarily, without coercion. MO

I've always believed this verdict wasn't a slam dunk. I think if it had been, the DA wouldn't have gone along with a plea deal. The families were staunchly against it and IMO, a quadruple homicide so brutal deserves its day in court. There's only one reason a DA goes along with this, IMO. There was concern about the jury and whether or not they'd come back with a unanimous verdict.

MOO.
IMO - Do you believe he is guilty now? MOO

The Idaho attorney on Banfield right now believes that the allocution will have to take place on Wednesday in order for the Judge to accept the guilty plea. And no Alford.

I would think the inmates do not look too kindly to the likes of Bryan Kohberger.
Prisons are full of Bryan Kohberger's

Agree, he doesn’t strike me as a guy with a lot of charisma. My guess is his status in prison is not going to be high. He attacked four young women while they slept, was caught and took a plea deal.

Will see what happens if he is mixed with general population
3 young women and a young man💔

You may be right, and IANAL, but according to the Guilty Plea Advisory, the defendant does waive his right to remain silent by pleading guilty. However, he can stay silent about any other crimes he may have committed or about any other actions that would increase the severity of his sentence:

Am I reading this right? There is an option for this arrogant ba$T@*d to “stand silent” again? AT could make his plea?

If he isn’t forced to utter his plea, I will be absolutely enraged! Not only should he *himself* have to say the words, but I’m hoping he must allocute, disclose where he disposed of the weapon and explain himself.

😡 OMO.

Pretty sure the inmates of prisons have a wide range of opinions and reactions to things, including really not caring about other inmates, one way or another.

So you can plead guilty without confessing? He’s pleading guilty, not “no contest” or Alford. By confessing, do you mean spilling all the details— location of the knife, motive, etc—the things that are driving me batty?

I respectfully disagree to this. I think for the defence to approach the DA and ask for a deal this shows that this case was absolutely a slam dunk for the verdict. The only thing they couldn't be sure on was a unanimous vote for the death penalty. If there were holes in the case, then no way would the defence approach the DA and ask them to present a deal

Plea deal hearing Wednesday at 11:00 am per Brian Entin

I disagree that there's only one reason the DA proposed this after being asked by the defense. I think what the Prosecutor has said is likely the real truth of it. The monster pleads guilty and will never be a free man again, no appeals process, no parole hearings, no keeping the families held emotionally hostage with any of that for decades. It will be a Godsend in the years to come. AJMO

No, my reading of the document is that he can’t stay silent about the charges he’s pleading guilty to:

It's a possibility, but not guaranteed. We don't know if the state made that a requirement, if the defense offered that to sweeten the pot, if the judge will require that, or if there's no such requirement at all. Wednesday will be big.

Not so sure about how full a confession it will be since, IMO, it would involve a lot of x-rated, violent fantasies.

I wish they had some device that will force him to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

I fear him giving some story that is completely self-serving and swerves from his genuine motive and methods.

Just my concerns.

Holy! Was not expecting this

I have learned Bryan Kohberger has accepted a plea deal.
Sources confirm the prosecution has proposed dropping the death penalty in exchange for Kohberger pleading guilty to committing the four murders and serving life,
More details soon.
Wow! I figured he'd want to see and hear all the details splayed out in court.

Nah. Prisons are full of gang members and murderers, yes, but not someone like Kohberger who committed a quadruple homicide for "no reason." Nobody respects that. He won't fit in, he's not affiliated and he has zero street smarts. Throw in his very strange demeanor, and I think the other inmates will target him fast. JMO
