PLEA DEAL REACHED - 4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #110

Nothing confirmed, but it appears that Kohberger will not have to allocute.

Our only hope may be that he sat down prior to the deal being agreed to and answered questions.

I share your hope, @MassGuy, and thanks for sharing your intel with us.

Please, Judge Hippler, lift the gag order when possible and give the public access to enough of the evidence so any sane person will be completely convinced that BK is pleading guilty on his own accord, whether or not he decides to play coy during tomorrow's hearing.

IMO

I also expect him to have to sit and listen to victim impact statement though the people affected haven’t got much time to put this together.
<snipped for focus>

I think that the victim impact statements come at the sentencing hearing that is reportedly going to be scheduled for late July or thereabouts, according to MSM reporting. That's if the plea agreement is approved and finalized tomorrow in court before the judge. So that would give the families a few weeks to prepare for their victim impact statements.

I feel like there were 6 camps for the plea agreement--Kaylee's parents and Xana's dad against, Ethan's parents, Xana's mom and Maddie's dad for, with Maddie's mom unknown (but I think SG implied she was against).

Also, in the Banfield interview, she said something about Hippler asking about an offer at the last hearing. Did anyone catch that in the hearing that was streamed?

We got the watts stuff two weeks later.

This investigation was miles bigger than that, and I can’t imagine how many redactions there will be (countless innocent people investigated).

We’ll get it, but it’s not going to be that fast.
After sentencing, right?

Are you betting against the house? lol I assume you went all-in on “no plea deal”and busted. 😉

Seriously I fervently hope that Judge Hippler has stipulated that beyond pleading guilty, BK is ordered to give a full confession. With details. When did he begin planning? Why these victims? Did he intend just one victim and it went haywire because Xana was awake and Maddie and Kaylee were in the same bed? Where is your knife? When did you realize you’d left the sheath behind? Is that why you showed up early the next morning?

I also do and don’t want to know the details of how he proceeded. I’m curious but it seems too ghoulish and invasive for me to know, as an outsider.

Bbm.
One would hope ?
Sorry for the two families who oppose.
The loss has to be so agonizing, affecting every day and each breath that they take.
They have a life sentence as well.

Still think this is better than taking a chance on a jury who could be fickle.
What do you all think ?
Imo.
I agree.

You just never know with juries-- there is a guy named Durst (can't recall first name)- he murdered and actually dismembered a man and the jury acquitted him. go figure. Then there is Casey Anthony and there are many many more where you are sure the defendant is guilty but the jury acquits.
This. I understand how badly everyone wants full justice. I was looking forward to the firing squad for him. But the thing is, some of the families are making it sound as though there was no way a jury could be hung and have to go through another trial. Or that they would convict and then someone would vote against the death penalty. In other words, The anger being voiced is as though there was no possible way for anything but a guilty and death penalty verdict and that is simply absolutely not so.

Again, social media has turned everything on its head. For every case where the juries follow instructions and give a just verdict, you can have people who come on with an agenda. This way, there is no chance for that happening plus those poor roommates don't have to go through being victimized and re-traumatized.

Thanks for correcting my goof.
I realized after I wrote it that the impact statements would probably be at sentencing.

This really seems like a logical decision from the prosecutor. You are guaranteeing he never leaves prison, has no chance to appeal, it appeases at least some of the family and avoids putting all the witnesses, family and friends through the ringer. To me the no parole is justice, a plea of life with a possibility of parole would not have been.

To pretend this is a slam-dunk case is baffling. There were going to be loads of twists and turns and it will be a media frenzy. There is always a chance of not guilty, a hung jury or even a jury that finds guilt but does not vote for the death penalty as punishment leaving you with nothing gained.

Mr. G said--- "lead with kindness & respect."
Further update from the Gonclaves' platform

"... so many people asking how they can help.
....
If you feel called or moved to try to make a difference, please contact the Ada County Courthouse to express your thoughts or feelings.

While we are cognizant that some may have wanted the plea, the prosecution relayed to us it was NOT a majority vote that was the deciding factor in offering this plea.
If you feel called or led, please contact those responsible for the decisions being made. Please learn from some of my own mistakes, & lead with kindness & respect . Try to separate something that is so intertwined with emotions & be logical. We can make a difference today, forever. But only if we can act united & remain calm, collected, kind & respectful.

The number available online for the Honorable Steven Hippler is 208 🤬🤬🤬-XXXX."
@QB2022 sbm bbm above
Thx for your post quoting Mr Goncalves' ^ stmt.

Respect???
Mr. G seems to openly be soliciting ppl to urge the presiding judge to make decisions and rulings based on information not presented in party's motions, briefs, or in the courtroom.
If anyone supporting BK had been doing the same, Mr. G. would be raising hell imo.
ICBW, jmo.

A secondary point --- Spreading Judge H's Phone Number

From Mr G's stmt: "The number available online for the Honorable Steven Hippler is 208 🤬🤬🤬-XXXX" <-My redaction here and in ^ post.
Spreading Judge H's Phone Number?
Okay, it's a publicly avail. number online, but ---
seems Mr. G is advocating that ppl contact the judge and ignore our criminal justice system's legally imposed procedures.

Exactly! But what will happen in the future in states without the death penalty? Chris Watts confessed to avoid the death penalty, and BK appears to be pleading guilty for the same reason.

Without the death penalty, what will prevent another man who is young and attractive (to at least a slice of the population) from committing a heinous act in the future, then count on a large SM following to heighten his chance of getting away with it at trial? Why would such a man ever plead guilty, regardless of the evidence against him or the pleas of his family to confess to save his "soul"?
