Ripper, Borden, Zodiac...

I recently read John Douglas's book "The Cases that Haunt Us", and was fascinated to read his thoughts on the Borden case. It is a real locked room crime, with only two logical suspects - Bridget and Lizzie. Only Lizzie had anything to gain by murdering her parents, as well as the opportunity. Douglas points out a couple of things I hadn't really registered before - Lizzie saying to her friend that she thought something terrible was going to happen the night before the murders; a bucket of blood-soaked rags in the cellar (which Bridget could not remember seeing before) which was not examined due to the "modesty" of the police, who believed that Lizzie was menstruating (this was not verified); and the fact that fastidious Mr Borden was using his overcoat as a pillow when he was killed. It never occurred to me that this was odd, but Douglas suggests that Lizzie put this on to kill him, and then tucked it under his head so that she was protected from the blood and it would not be noticed that the coat was covered in blood. Nowadays I guess blood spatter experts would pick this up, but this science did not exist in 1892.

This really convinced me of her guilt - incidently this book also covers the Jack the Ripper and Zodiac cases, as well as the Ramsay case and several others. Most recommended!

I have watched documentaries on the Borden/Zodiac cases but know NOTHING of the Jack the Ripper Case.
Don't I recall one of the documentaries linking Lizzie Borden and the Maid at the time (forget her name, sorry!) in a sexual relationship? Not saying that makes anyone guilty (I happen to be pro-gay, although straight) but for some reason that also stands out in my mind.

There was a huge ruckus in the needlework world a couple years ago about a Lizzie Borden sampler.

Some thought it was terrible, others didn't care and loved it. I guess it's that way with any design but was just wondering what you all think?

I've gone back and forth on the Borden case, but I think Lizzie did it.

Zodiac and Ripper? I have no idea. None. Every theory I read, I think "Yeah, that's it!" :)

This describes my exact experience with these 3 cases!!

Irish, I think we may have been separated at birth.....;)

I have long been interested in all of those cases as well as the Dr. Sam Sheppard case. I have read three books on that case.

In addition to some already mentioned, Cleveland Torso, Texarkana Phantom, Jack the Stripper and Julia Wallace.

For something more recent, I'd add the Original Night Stalker (1979-86).

I was going through my boxes of books that I own last night. I came across some very old crimes and wondered the opinion of the great minds here at WS. A few that continue to hold my interest...

Jack the ripper
Lizzie Borden
Zodiac

Any others that interest anyone?

I welcome any and all ideas, thoughts...heck, go ahead and solve them.. :)

In the case of JtR and Zodiac, there are new suspects emerging almost on a monthly basis. Regarding Lizzie, I'm about 75% that she did it and got away with it.
