On August 23, 1982, a young, vibrant First Nations woman attended the Lillooet District Hospital for a broken finger. Although there have been unconfirmed sightings since then, that was the last time Roxanne Elaine FLEMING was confirmed to have been seen. Unfortunately, it seems that years went by before Roxanne was reported missing to police and time has faded many memories of Roxanne. Since her disappearance, police have followed up on several leads and possible sightings, however Roxanne remains missing. Roxanne was 18 at the time of her disappearance and would now be over 50 years old.

Description of Roxanne FLEMING:

• First Nations female
• 18 years at the time of her disappearance;
• 5 ft 4 in (163 cm)
• slender build
• brown hair
• brown eyes

Investigators are actively seeking to establish a detailed time line and are looking to speak with persons who may have knowledge of Roxanne’s activities in Lillooet in 1982 or insight into her disappearance.

There is some news on this case. It's been reopened and Roxanne was in contact with the Workers Compensation Board in Alberta in 1986/1987 so she was alive up to then Surprise phone call from RCMP has answers about missing mom - APTN News

This is a long but very interesting read. Roxanne's daughter is talking about her mother's background, her own youth, her experiences, the problems indigenous people face, etc. Roxanne can be very proud of her daughter.

Could she be this Jane Doe found in Field, B.C in 1994?

"The skeletal skull of a young/middle-aged woman [18-50] was found by a hunter on September 10, 1994, in a wooded area east of Golden, British Columbia. She may have had a dental overlap at the front and would have died about 5 years earlier."

Date of death estimated to be ~1988/1989, Rosanne would have been about 25 by then.

Roxanne's teeth are listed as "Protruding Uppers" which could be a match.

Golden/Field is in eastern British Columbia (~1hr from the Alberta border) and it'd be on the way if you were traveling between provinces on Highway 1.

It's so hard to know. There is so little information. It might be. I wish we knew more.

What I can add to this conversation is that there was a greyhound bus that would go from Edmonton to Calgary and then to Vancouver and would stop in Golden. It was a very common greyhound route. There is high chance that this female whoever she may be is from Alberta. Likely of Indigenous descent.

I am very unfamiliar of the reservations in that area but I have folks I will ask and see if we can find more info...
