Australia Samantha Murphy, 51, last seen leaving her property to go for a run in the Canadian State Forest, Ballarat, 4 Feb 2024 *Arrest* #13

Agree Troops. A lot of 'well standing' in the community start off with the top of the range legal eagles. Then change to legal aid once the bills pile up. It would take a billionaire to fund the defence for an accused murderer. Baden Clay comes to mind.

Daily court fees for junior barristers would cost around AUD 3,000 to AUD 5,000. For senior barristers, the fee would be AUD 5,000 to AUD 8,000 a day.
I have a KC for a civil case and he is AU$1050 per hour.

We will have to see if Paul Galbathy is still representing PS for the murder charge. In PS' last court appearance for this case Moya O'Brien represented him. Moya is also a barrister, and is on the Legal Aid approved barristers list.

PS' parents lived in a middle class house in Ballarat.
They did not own the Scotsburn property, Andrew Lorensene owned that. (Rocket333 gave you the link for that)

And I don't think that PS' dad even had a business premises. His advertised business listing was his home address in Ballarat (as posted here before). Just a small contractor whose wife was a primary school teacher.

"Moya O'Brien, said she was yet to receive the CCTV footage and would need time to review it."
'Unprecedented' volume of evidence compiled for Samantha Murphy murder case, court hears
According to newspapers, Paul Galbally is no longer engaged in that case. Regarding the property, there were two properties next to each other in Scotsburn. My link refers to the one PS and his girlfriend looked after. They spent time between the two properties.

Please post your link here so we can see what you are talking about.

As far as multiple people here have read (and linked), PS and his girlfriend were house-sitting a property belonging to a family friend.

I can see the link you posted about two properties down the road from each other, but it says nothing about who owned the properties. What link does your thought come from that PS' parents owned the other property?

Stephenson is believed to have been living between this property and another one located less than 100m away on Yendon No 2 Road with his girlfriend prior to his arrest.

Patrick Stephenson was recently escorted from Melbourne Assessment Prison to part of Enfield State Park, south of Ballarat

And this time 7NEWS can reveal that excavators were brought in to dig up an undisclosed area in a bid to find the remains of Murphy.

Wow, perhaps PS finally gave up the location.

Something could be happening now, getting close to the trial, or it's a ploy by the police to get the info out, someone has opened to the media

I think they said they were unsuccessful. (in the 7 News link)

"While this time was more recent, their search was again fruitless."

Unless they mean the November search. It is not really clear.

Is he helping them now? Though not particularly well, apparently, if he is.

Things do change in a natural environment though. In the 10 years between Matthew Leveson disappearing and Michael Atkins giving up Matthew's location, a big tree had self-planted and grown on top of Matthew. So it made his burial site kind of unrecognisable, until they worked out that a tree had grown there.

imo

PS: "You're bringing me out here again? Well I can confirm that I definitely didn't bury her right here." *points at ground*

*detectives dig up area and find nothing*

PS: "What did I just tell you?"

Canadian last November and Enfield this year.

The start and the end.

The phone was found in the middle.

Lots of big searches focussed on Canadian and Enfield, so these sites were identified as significant early on.

Car telematics, witnesses, evidence of Stephenson being in both (all) spots at the time?

Escorted by police to both sites to provide an explanation, reenactment, verify details?

It’s interesting that both sites, particularly Enfield, have always been on the radar, and that we are now seeing Stephenson being taken to them. Seems his presence in both places at the time of Samantha’s demise is not in doubt.

What's the presumed motive for Samantha's disappearance? Sexual attack? Hit and run?

"Police will allege the murder of missing Ballarat mother Samantha Murphy was a "deliberate act" that occurred on the day she disappeared, Victoria's police chief has said.
He said police believed the murder was "a deliberate act" and "not a hit and run".
"I'm not going to speculate on any other details about the death other than it was deliberate," Patton said."

Another visit is very interesting. I hope they're narrowing in on her location and gathering a heap more evidence behind the scenes. I've always been drawn to Enfield State Park, I feel she's there somewhere. How awesome would it be to find her body before the trial? I'm not sure it will give much away after all this time though.

Maybe the victim's clothes
still have murderer's DNA on them? 🤔

Yet again is dead right.. thankyou to the folks who went over the real estate stuff , yet again...

That poor owner, he probably thought he had a workable deal.. someone local to look after the house and the horse... whoda THUNK what would happen..

That would be awesome. I'm just not aware of the length of time before it becomes too difficult to extract any DNA.
