Satanic Temple Protests Ten Commandments Monument With Goat-Headed Statue

It was there, then it wasn't.

Like an apparition that happens to involve a forklift, a truck and a 22-hour drive, a bronze statue of a goat-headed-and-winged creature appeared for a handful of hours at the foot of the State Capitol in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Thursday.

"I present to you Baphomet," Lucien Greaves, co-founder of The Satanic Temple, told the cheering crowd that had gathered for the "First Amendment Rally."

Tehehehe. I love religious freedom. It really is a beautiful piece of art, all symbolism aside.

Try reading through those Ten Commandments as "guidelines for living in a group with other humans."

If you don't see this as Scripture, aren't all ten good advice???

They’re great advice for living in harmony. All humans need a govern or they run amuck is what history tells us. Its maybe what separates us too.. one guy wanted to dance and one guy desired to drink and one wanted to marry while one hated women... hence world religion. IMO

Half of them are good advice, the other half are useless.

Ya'll can hate on me as much as you want. I will say it now and I'll say it again. Freedom of religion means just that, freedom to practice a religion, NOT freedom to practice a state approved religion.

This makes my blood boil: Quoted from above article:

"It will be a very cold day in hell before an offensive statue will be forced upon us to be permanently erected on the grounds of the Arkansas State Capitol," the senator also added.

I’m from Arkansas and I spent a large portion of young adulthood paying off student loans from attending a state school.

They all love stretching that “spiritual” muscle until someone of the opposing team stretches theirs. Human nature is human nature, as utterly unfair and unsustainable as it is...

Satanist Statue At Arkansas Capitol To Test Religious Freedom

The majority of Satanists do not worship any deities, but are closer to humanists in their beliefs in that bodily autonomy, the right to control one's own body, is among the highest of rights, according to the Satanic Bible. They contended that the state was violating her religious rights by forcing certain procedures upon her before allowing her to have an abortion.

On the statues of the 10 Commandments and the statue of Baphomet at the State Capitol, the Satanic Temple said state lawmakers "directly stated that the placement of the Ten Commandments at the Capitol was not to be 'construed to mean the state of Arkansas favors any particular religion or denomination over another,' in recognition of the fact that such viewpoint discrimination would be illegal. But if the bill itself couldn't be construed as religious favoritism, the state's rejection of other religious viewpoints certainly is."

Thank you for this, I have limited knowledge of Satanists beliefs, of those I've met and had some conversation with, all have stated they do not worship or promote any type of evil. My belief is hollywood contributes a lot of misinformation. Reading the words that senator had to say really upsets me. We have a constitution, when law makers disregard our constitution in such a public way, it demeans our freedom. When will we come out of the dark ages?
