The family last heard from Doug Sumner, 52, of Great Falls on Oct. 21. Sumner owns Sumner's Deli and Grocery on Highway 21 just south of Great Falls. Employees working there on Monday said that he checks in two, three or four times a week. They thought it was very strange to not hear from him.

A cousin last spoke to him on Facebook messenger when he told her he had an appointment with his bank on Monday. She also heard he may have gone to Lancaster to help a friend move. Family members have tried to call his cellphone, but it goes directly to voicemail.

Sumner was last seen leaving his home on Angel Drive off Highway 21. He was driving his black 2014 Dodge Ram with a South Carolina tag – DGI 353.

Fairfield County Sheriffs ‘very concerned’ about missing 52-year-old man

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the disappearance of a 52-year-old man.

Douglas William Sumner, II, of Angel Drive in the Great Falls area of Fairfield County was last seen in Rock Hill at approximately 12 p.m. on Oct. 22nd.

Sumner is a white male who is approximately 6 feet tall and 195 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen driving a black Dodge pickup truck with SC tag number DGJ353.

“We are obviously very concerned about the disappearance of Mr. Sumner. He is a business owner and is very well-liked in the community," Sheriff Montgomery said. "We are working very closely with neighboring law enforcement agencies and have asked SLED to assist with this investigation.”

Fairfield Co. man reported missing found dead in crashed car in embankment

A Fairfield County man who was reported missing in the last month has been found dead following a vehicle accident.

The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office says Douglass William Sumner, 41, of the Great Falls area in Fairfield County, was last seen on Oct. 22. He was found dead in his wrecked vehicle off Hwy. 21 North in Fairfield County.

The coroner’s office says Sumner appears to have run off the highway, down a 60-foot embankment and hit a tree.
