SC SC - Gilbert, HispMale 30-35, UP17063, unverified names, undocumented immigrant, Feb'16

Per NamUs: Hispanic male, approximately 32 years old, was found dead in Gilbert, SC on 02/17/2016. The decedent was located at a rental property that he had been residing at with at least one other individual. Both gentlemen were undocumented immigrants, and we have been unable to positively identify the decedent. We have received some possible names for the decedent, but none of those could be verified. We are seeking assistance with identifying the decedent, so that his family can be notified and arrange for disposition.

I have been in contact via email with the chief deputy coroner of LC, and this is what I have found out so far.

• The decedent died from acute alcohol intoxication, he wasn't shot like I had thought.
• Went by the name Miguel Lopez
• Provided date of birth of 7-07-83
• Reportedly had no family, children, or a partner

Also, the Google Maps thing I linked is not the address he died at.

Gilbert has numerous large farms in the area, and there is a large influx of migrant farm workers throughout the year. This may be a very difficult case to crack.

Also, I should have clarified. You may see where I said that I thought he had been shot. That wasn't because of his race - it was because there was another case during this same time reported by the Lexington County Coroner that was a result of a shooting.

Okay, I recently learned a little more information.

So it seems that Miguel was a field worker alongside his roommate. In the weeks leading up to his death, he was involved a homicide investigation (I'm currently trying to learn if there is any body cam footage. There must be.). Miguel had an alcohol problem and his roommate saw him drinking rubbing alcohol hours before he found his body.

There were two other people involved that the roommate thought might have more information - Charles and Matias. Unfortunately, these people haven't been located.

Alright, so here is what I have.

Charles is a crewleader at a farm which is close to where the decedent was found. Apparently, he doesn't remember the decedent, but he does know Matias; however he doesn't know how to contact him.
