Found Deceased SC - Imani Gleaton, 18, got a ride from a relative, Orangeburg, 10 Jul 2020

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced that Orangeburg County Sheriff’s investigators have joined the effort to locate a missing Calhoun County teen.

“This young lady has family members in the Orangeburg community who are believed to have been the last to see her,” the sheriff said. “If anyone has any knowledge of her whereabouts, you are urged to call us as soon as possible.”
Ravenell said investigators are searching for 18-year-old Imani Gleaton, who was reported missing to Calhoun County authorities last week.

The St. Matthews teen is believed to have last been seen on July 10 after having gotten a ride from a relative after her work shift at the St. Matthews Hardee’s.
The relative told investigators Gleaton was dropped off at the residence of Gleaton’s sister in the Pine Hill Apartment in Orangeburg.

Investigators developed information that the teen has ties in Columbia and the Batesburg-Leesville area.
She is 5’1” and said to weigh around 114 pounds. Her last clothing is unknown but not believed to be her work uniform.

This is odd. What time was Imani dropped off? Did her sister see her? It's been over 2 weeks, where would Imani go? Did she have any other clothes with her or at her sister's house? Why would Imani just quit her job like this?

Someone she knew could have been waiting for her. Parked up and saw her arrive home and get dropped off by relative. Then the person intercepted her before she entered the building and took her.

I'd really like to know if the relative saw her enter the building.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office has charged 18-year-old Jykeem Johnson with the murder of a missing teenager who was last seen in July.

According to officials, Johnson was arrested and charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in unrelated cases earlier this week. While speaking to investigators, Johnson said he killed 18-year-old Imani Gleaton, who was reported missing on July 10. Authorities said Johnson also admitted that he buried Gleaton’s body near Elloree.

Jykeem Johnson has some history of violence as recently as October 4 in Orangeburg County. I'm very sorry Imani ever crossed paths with this guy. Rest peacefully, Imani.

I'm sure he was just hanging around the apartment complex. It's just a high crime, high population density area. We don't even get a booking photo of the animal yet.

Imani had a rough start in life, but seems like she had big plans for her future. Makes this senseless act even sadder.

Family remembers ‘quiet and humble’ teen who was killed after being reported missing

Imani Gleaton lost her Mom at a young age and was raised by her aunt and lived with her cousins.

Logan describes Gleaton as quiet and humble. She wasn’t the type of teenager who would not come home and leave the family worried.


Logan said Gleaton had just graduated high school and was starting to plan her future.


“She wanted to go to college that was her plan. She wanted to explore more in life,” Logan said
