Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Asks for the Public’s Help in Search of Missing, Endangered Teenager and Infant

Jazmynn Rosa Morales Sakkinen and her child, Elina Elizabeth Morales Sakkinen, were reported missing by a family to the Sheriff’s Office this morning. Jazmynn and Elina were last seen at around 11pm yesterday at their residence on Yellow Bell Road near Walhalla.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of 15 year old Jazmynn Rosa Morales Sakkinen and four month old Elina Elizabeth Morales Sakkinen, you are asked to call 911 immediately. Investigators told WYFF 4 on Monday morning that there is no active search, partly because they believe there is no criminal involvement.

"She doesn't appear to be abducted, left on her own accord. No vehicle description, no tag, no direction of travel. So, at what point in time, if you're going to use a bunch of personnel and resources, at what point do you start the search?" Watt said when asked about the challenges in the case.

You’re right, even if she left of her own volition, she is a child with a child! They need to be using every resource to find her.

A spokesperson with the sheriff's office said both Jazmynn and her baby, Elina, are considered endangered because of their ages and because Elina requires special formula.

"We learned also on Saturday that the little infant does require a special kind of formula. So, therefore, because of those reasons, the missing persons unit considers them to be endangered," Jimmy Watt with the sheriff's office said.

‘I just want you to come home’: 15-year-old mom and baby still missing from Upstate home

Sakkinen’s mother, Alexia Vidal, said she last spoke with her daughter Friday night.

“She said ‘I’ll see you in the morning. Wake me up early so I can get ready.’ I said ‘okay’. I woke up in the morning and she was gone,” Vidal said.

Vidal said the family was in the middle of a move from Walhalla to Easley. Sakkinen took her baby, but only left behind a letter.

“It said that basically she’s following a dream,” Vidal said.

It is unclear how Sakkinen and Elina left the home. Vidal said she believes someone knows where they are.

“I know that somebody saw her. I know that somebody took her from my house. I know that somebody had her in their car. I know that somebody has seen her. I wish that that somebody would open their heart and know how much they are destroying a family,” Vidal said.
