"Police said 24-year-old Jeremy Filowiat was reported missing after his abandoned car was found in Cherokee County on Saturday.

"They called and told us they found his car abandoned and all of his stuff was still there," Filowiat's dad, Curtis Pruitt said.

According to the missing person report, Filowiat, who lived with his uncle, was last seen on July 15. His uncle told investigators Filowiat left the house around 7:00 that morning to go to a job interview in Mooresville, NC, and he has not seen or heard from him since.

Filowiat's parents said he was active on social media up until July 24, but then all communication stopped.

"His phone is dead," Curtis Pruitt said, "He's not posting. He's not doing anything."

"Meanwhile, Fowler said Filowiat’s body was the second body found in Cherokee County in a week. Last Monday, an unidentified man’s body was found in a roadside ditch near Blacksburg, discovered by a state Department of Transportation employee while mowing grass at about 8:15 a.m. on Shaman Road, about a quarter-mile from Interstate 85.

It appeared the body had been there for several days and no identification could be found.

Fowler said Sunday an autopsy was performed, and the cause of death was being withheld until the next of kin is found.

He said the manner of death was a homicide."
