Margaret Holcomb was last heard from 2/4/18. At that time, she left her home and told her mother, who was visiting, that she would see her later. She has had no further contact with family. Anyone with info, call 843-915-8477!

I wonder if there were reasons other than legal or financial for wanting to leave and not be found. I do not intend to be rude but she could be successful in hiding if she had dental changes and by also by changing her hair color. I also have recognized the county name from other cases. Hope she is safe.

Conway woman, mother of four, still missing after a year with no leads

CONWAY, SC - CONWAY SC (WBTW) - It's been one year since 37-year-old Margaret Holcomb vanished and the Horry County Police Department posted on their Twitter page this week that "the search continues."

The mother of four was last seen on Feb. 4 around 10 a.m. at a mobile home park on Tigger Loop in Conway. Holcomb's sister, Joyce Aland, says it's a nightmare the family can't wake up from.

"She got up, she walked out of the bedroom and she told my mom, 'Mom 'I'll be right back,' stepped out, and no one has seen her since," said Aland.

Family members say they waited a few days to report her missing because she has a tendency to wander off. "She liked roam, she liked to go places, on adventures as she would say," said Aland.

Holcomb also struggled with depression, bipolar disorder, and PTSD from a traumatic event.

"Do I think she would have harmed herself? Yes. But if she did that they would have found her body by now, but they haven't found anything," said Aland.

Thank you @Sneaker33 for jogging my memory about this case.

She couldn’t afford bail, let alone extensive dental work. Peace be with her.

Dental work can be free at a dental school associated with a university. I think it is a possibility because privacy laws would protect her. I do think she would have to have at least a pay as you go phone. I was not able to see what the original charges were and wonder if fine was long overdue. I do know someone went to jail for not making any payments on a fine after shoplifting in my state.

Tried to edit last post. Found her family facebook page. Very concerning to be without contact with young boys and other loving family members. Difficult to get help for mental issues. Hoping for the best.

Was Margaret and her children living with her mom?

Was Margaret and her children living with her mom?
It seems she was living with mother and sister at the time of her disappearance. I am not sure about children but statement by mother hints they are with father and he does not let grandmother see him. This was from past Facebook post so may have changed.

She did not live with her mother, her mother was at the home she shared with her ex boyfriend and their children. She had no vehicle, no job, no income at all. Neighbors stated she was seen dropping a duffle bag out the back window of the home and retrieving it before walking off. She had documented substance abuse issues as well as reports of threats made at the home and firearms being pulled or fired at the home in the past from drug acquaintances, per a family member. She had taken off before, but not without the children usually. I am very close with the family. The father is not refusing visitation, the younger children are refusing to see the mothers family due to them accusing the father of harming her only to have the police completley rule him not involved. Including a poly among other information. She either left and met harm or left and has not used her ssn or anything since. We are desperate for information, if anyone knows anything. Supposedly the actual last people to see her were the attendees of a superbowl party that turned violent and she was said to have interrupted and been rebuffed. No one has reported any contact after that, though some attendees state she wasn't present at the party. Her kids, her mother, her family needs closure of any kind at this point. Keep looking for does. Keep looking period. Please.

If she had no vehicle, no job or income - who supported her when she would previously disappear? Did she have a favorite place?

How did she go places without any money or vehicle? Hitchhike? A friend pick her up?

Her mother has a strange way of describing it as “her adventures” -makes it sound like she is backpacking across the country or something. What were her previous “adventures” like?

I never thought about it before, but Myrtle Beach is so close to Conway. I guess LE would have to have a sighting of her there to investigate MB. Just think it would be a really good place to blend in and maybe live on the streets. That said, it's hard to imagine no contact with her kids in over a year and a half. MOO

This case is particularly sad, I think the stigma associated with mental illness becomes an obstacle in so many missing persons cases.

I think we need to know more about the superbowl party.

There are a few comments on this older post by HCPD. A couple of people claim to be family and another person says she's the mother of someone who used to babysit Margaret's children. Some of you might be interested in the pic with a tidbit that refers to a possible association with Heather Elvis' case (of which I'm not familiar).

WOMAN STILL MISSING AFTER TWO YEARS
1f6a8.png

HCPD continues to search for any information that may lead to the location of Margaret Holcomb. Holcomb was last heard from Feb. 4, 2018. At that time, she left her home and told her mother she'd see her later. She has had no further contact with family since.

At the time of her disappearance, Holcomb was 37 years old, 5’2”, and 90 lbs, with hazel eyes and blonde hair. She has a hope tattoo with a butterfly on her left wrist, a purple heart with an arrow on her right forearm, a fairy with a ring and rose on her back right shoulder, and “Daddy’s girl” and “Momma’s angel” on her upper left or right arm.

We ask that you focus any discussion on providing information that may help to find Holcomb. Anyone with information is asked to call 843-915-8477.

This is interesting. Heather Elvis is a big story in SC, although I haven't followed it closely. She disappeared in 2013 and husband and wife Sidney & Tammy Moorer were eventually sentenced for kidnapping. Heather's body has never been found.

I know I'm not doing Heather's case any justice with this brief summary as it has been long and convulted with many twists and turns over the years.
