Greenville police officer killed in line of duty
Greenville Police Chief Ken Miller did not immediately identify the officer who was pronounced dead at a hospital. Miller declined to name him until all the family has been notified.

Jacobs, who joined the military at 17, was a decorated veteran who fought in the Iraq War. When Vining and his family transitioned from the military, he said they struggled with finding a place to live. That's when Jacobs took them in.
