Police ask for help to find Bennettsville woman missing since November

State police are currently at the home of Shelby L. Head, the Bennetsville woman who has been missing since November.

Police say her family reported her missing yesterday, but the last time she was seen was on Nov. 18, 2017.
Officers say it appears she disappeared without a trace.
Bennettsville Police Chief Kevin Miller says they've called in state police to help them search Head's home on Patton Street.
Miller says this investigation is ongoing.

Bennettsville Police said Head's father came to the police department Monday to report a situation about his daughter's car. "It began with a civil dispute on a vehicle. And the further we started to dig into it, we uncovered one possibly may have been a missing person."

Miller said an arrest has been made in connection with Head's disappearance case, which lead his officers to the location of a body.

The identity of the body is unknown and being called "Jane Doe" for now.

Miller said the body is being sent to MUSC for further forensic identification by way of DNA and dental records.

Raymond Hunter Nolan was arrested and charged with murder and destruction or desecration of human remains, according to a news release from the Bennettsville Police Department.

The body of Shelby Head, the 40-year-old missing Bennettsville woman, was found on Syrian Road in the Tatum area of Marlboro County on Thursday, according to coroner Tim Brown.

According to the police report, during the investigation it was determined by investigators that Nolan killed the victim on Nov. 19 within the city limits of Bennettsville and discarded the victim's body in a wooded area off of Syrian Road in Marlboro County.
