SC SC - US Coast Guard searching for 31-foot vessel – Carol Anne that went missing off of Brunswick Georgia, 3 boaters on board, Charleston, 18 Oct ‘23

Pink is also not a normal maritime rescue color, which is typically orange to red-orange (note life ring behind the fish box in the photo from the News4JAX story).

Thanks for that - I didn't really notice the pink color until I looked at the photo in daylight (my evening office light is pretty bad). Off topic - but something many don't know is the "black box" on an airliner usually recovered in a crash is NOT black, but it's bright orange. They are also EXTREMELY heavy (I once had to "escort" one personally to the NTSB lab in L'Enfant Plaza so the chain of custody remained intact.)

Missing fishermen off the coast of Brunswick

“All family members and I do hold onto hope that we will be presented with a miracle as we have put this in God’s hands now and pray that he returns Tyler, Caleb and Dalton home to us safely,” Chris wrote in a Facebook post.

Chris said the last helicopter searching for the three men landed at 4:38 p.m. Tuesday, and it will be their last flight unless they receive new information.

As they suspend the search, Chris asks the community to keep a lookout while boating or visiting beaches — hoping it may help them “put the remaining pieces of this horrific puzzle together.”

Chris also said the families will be pushing for legislative changes to prevent this from happening to anyone in the future.

A manual EPIRB seems pointless. I don’t no the cost between a manual and the kind of go off when I hit the water but I can’t imagine always having a lot of time to manually turn on your rescue beacon.
I was thinking that, too. It seems like an unnecessary barrier to action in a situation where people are likely to be too physically, mentally, or emotionally overwhelmed to take that extra step. Thinking of the families - this must be very hard for them.

The families of Tyler Barlow, Dalton Conway and Caleb Wilkinson gathered in downtown St. Marys to commemorate one year since the men were lost at sea. The families are raising money to build a memorial on the waterfront.

Learn more about the fundraising goals for the memorial here.
