Aberdeen police say they are looking for Ahlaqui to carry out a wellness check.

The comments on the police FB post are mixed....

We are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a woman for a welfare check. Ahlaqui Blindman, is early 30s, 5’6” 143 lbs, and was last seen on May 7. She was reported missing on May 10.

The Aberdeen Police Department has been in contact with friends and relatives of Ahlaqui. We have also been in contact with Law Enforcement agencies in surrounding areas. Ahlaqui is not believed to currently be in the Aberdeen area.

If you have any information about Ahlaqui’s location, please message us or contact Brown County Dispatch at 605-626-7911 referencing APD case 25AP09808.

Very interesting article on what she has done with her life since she was released from prison. in 2022. She was apparently an addict. I was impressed by her motivation to help others. The article also mentions she has a son. Group seeks more transitional housing for women emerging from prison

Unfortuantely I did find an arrest of someone with her name, age 30, (middle name Sapphire which matches a Ahlaqui Sapphire Blindman formerly of Aberdeen, SD found in the White Pages. ) The arrest was in Minnesota in January (drug charge).

Screenshot of booking info for the arrest attached.
Link here: https://www.bloomingtonmn.gov/sites...rrest Report January 16- January 22, 2025.pdf

NOTE:. The address listed in her booking information is part of Catholic Charities and provides apartments for those experienceing homelessness. The address is in their sign up for housing.

And the organizations website is here: Dorothy Day Residence - CC Twin Cities

There's nothing in the MCRO system (judicial record query) on the arrest in MN as that just searches state district courts. If she was tried in a county court it likely wouldn't show up in MCRO. Even if a case is dismissed it would still be in the system if in the state district court.

NO photo, and no DOB on either the arrested woman or the missing woman so not 100% sure they are the same, though with the usual name it's quite possible.

She also may show up with a different last name. I found an obituary from a woman in Aberdeen from 2024 that lists Ahlaqui as the wife/partner of an Aberden resident (son of the woman named in the obituary) Since he's not a POI not listing - just be aware to search using first and middle names as well as last.

Sending a lot of thoughts and prayers out for this woman, I volunteer with a number of shelters and also a group that helps persons recovering from substance abuse. It's such a difficult life for many of them as they seek to recover and "going back out" happens too often.
