Matthew Allen Vanderwerff, 22, was last seen at 8 a.m. Thursday, when he indicated to his family that he was despondent, according to officials.

Driving a white 1999 Pontiac Bonneville, with South Dakota license plate 6C6141, Vanderwerff may be traveling west to the Black Hills area or Colorado. Vanderwerff went missing in April and was located near Custer, but it is unknown if he will return to the area.

Matthew Vanderwerff was reported missing June 1 and had indicated to his family that he was despondent.

He was found safe by police in Miami, Florida, the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
