SD SD - Tyler Weathersby, 31, went for a walk, left his phone & wallet at home, Sioux Falls, 4 Sept 2024

Sorry for my ignorance about the area, not walking anywhere without a mobile phone in Sioux Falls because there is crime there, wildlife, difficult terrain, or what is the reason? Thanks in advance.
it's a weird thing to say, I live technically in Sioux Falls limits, but my neighborhood is more connected to Tea and I'd have to cross a highway to get into proper Sioux Falls. I guess I worry about coyotes after dark because it's a little rural around the edges but I don't think Tyler went missing from this part of the city. I saw a mountain lion on 26th st on the way back from Brandon once.

There's some petty property crime here, lots of domestic disputes, but there's not a single part of town I'd actually be scared to be at any time of day with or without a cell phone on me. my biggest fear would be how i'd get home because of the sprawl and lack of public transportation.

I spent 10+ years living in Pettigrew Heights before they closed down the Lucky Lady and Munchies(locals will understand) and even that was more just watching out for broken glass and the occasional needle in the street, not fearing being attacked.

Plenty of speculation elsewhere ... I would like to hear from LE, when did they last give an update on the investigation?

Thum says the case file is extensive; meaning there have been all kinds of reports, theories, and posts on social media.

When we talked with Weathersby’s wife, Monalisa Perez, back in September she told us at that time the theories about his disappearance that keep popping up on social media are not helpful.

“I’ve actually gotten off of social media just for my mental well being, because I feel like a lot of it is a big distraction to actually finding him; there are false narratives going around and it’s not helping him being found and where he’s at,” Perez said.

“We’ve had other agencies review our case files; the steps we’ve taken and the things we’ve done and have come back with ‘yeah we are covering all the angels’ there were no new avenues or things that we suggest trying and that includes both local and federal agencies that we had take a look at it,” Thum said.

Angels - Angles :)

Thank you for posting the update!

A bump for Tyler.

from all I’ve read and watched, I believe he was in a state of psychosis :(
I don’t feel that people in that state can keep normal healthy human functioning, and those that do may often end up in homeless populations so I hope they’re asking around with his picture..

Can you please remind me, did Tyler have any known medical/mental health issues? Any issues with substances of any kind?

I don’t recall any of that being shared but I do remember the following article where they described his unusual behavior before he disappeared.

“Everything about Tyler was good up until the 3rd,” Janine told Dateline. That’s when she and Tyler got into an argument. “It was out of character for him,” she said. “We’ve never had an argument; we’ve never exchanged words.”

Janine says Tyler drove her to the airport on the evening of September 3rd, even though her flight wasn’t until the next day.

Dateline asked MonaLisa about Tyler’s behavior that day. “The stuff he was saying was extremely not like him,” she said. “It was really, really odd.”

Tyler Weathersby’s wife weighs in on newly released dashcam video

Feb 2025 article

a dash cam video of that September 4th morning has been made available by a private investigator.

Officer Sam Clemens confirms they have the video as well and have for quite some time.

“This video is part of the police report, and we do not release police reports (or specific details contained within) to the public,” said Clemens.

In a statement to Dakota News Now, Perez says she believes additional videos are being kept from the public eye.
