Hello,
I’m conducting nonfiction research on the historical media coverage of Dr. Dennis Jay Tison, a Sacramento-area psychiatrist who operated Bravo Medical weight-loss clinics in the late 1990s and later became the subject of a high-profile manslaughter case in early 2001.

I’m trying to locate primary-source newspaper articles and early online material that have not survived behind paywalls or were not captured by the Internet Archive.

Specifically seeking:

  • Sacramento Bee articles (1997–2000) quoting Tison on fen-phen, Xenical, or weight-loss drug therapy
  • Any AP or NYT News Service pieces that featured him as an obesity-drug expert
  • Early mentions of Bravo Medical Centers in local reporting
  • Pre-2001 employee/staff commentary or public complaints that may have been discussed on early forums
  • Any cached or pre-Wayback versions of his medical or personal websites
  • Any Usenet posts from that period referencing the case, Bravo Medical, or his public persona

What I already have:

  • The WIPO decision D2001-0304 (McClatchy Co. v. Dennis Jay Tison) concerning his 2000 registration of sacramentobee.com
  • The Sacramento Bee’s post-arrest coverage beginning January 2001
  • The Sacramento News & Review / alt.true-crime reposts summarizing courtroom statements
  • The general timeline from The Prosecutors (Gary Delsohn)

What I hope to fill in:

The 1997–2000 interval — Tison’s media presence during the fen-phen/Xenical period, the rise of his clinics, and any early online footprint or reporting that may shed light on how he was perceived before the criminal case.

If anyone has:

  • PDFs
  • scanned clippings
  • personal archives
  • mirrored posts
  • or recollections from local coverage at the time

I would greatly appreciate it.

You can reply publicly or contact me privately if you prefer.

Thank you in advance to anyone who still has access to these materials or remembers the early reporting.

Hi I'm new here, I have a lot of information but am afraid to share publicly. I'm not sure how to reply privately. Please advise.
