WA Today murder charges laid

From your link...

Police have charged the 77-year-old husband of Perth mother Sharon Fulton with her murder, 37 years after she went missing.

Raymond Reddington, previously known as Robert Fulton and Maxwell Fulton, appeared in Perth’s Magistrate Court on Friday, accused of committing wilful murder on March 18, 1986, at Duncraig – the same day the mother of four was allegedly last seen alive.

Reddington, who now uses a wheelchair, appeared via audio link from Perth Watch House where he was asked if he understood the charges against him.
“I haven’t been given anything, no papers or anything,” he said.

A duty lawyer appeared for Reddington, asking for the matter to be transferred to the Stirling Gardens homicide list on November 22. Bail was not considered.
On Friday, WA Police detectives said it was “a significant day” for Fulton’s family.

“The impact of her disappearance on her children has been horrific,” special crime division Detective Superintendent Darryl Cox said. “Over the last 37 years, the family and friends have been seeking answers, and we’re hoping today that they have some answers.”

When I read this article earlier it was only half an article. I'll now read it in full.

Just noting:
Next scheduled court appearance on November 22.

"A duty lawyer appeared for Reddington, asking for the matter to be transferred to the Stirling Gardens homicide list on November 22. Bail was not considered."

So glad there has finally been some progress in this case. He really did seem the likely perp from the start, but unfortunately there was no definitive evidence against him. Similar to so many other wives whose just 'walk out'. Let hope this leads to closure for the family.

So - if anyone out there is wondering if they could get away with murdering their wife, here is the answer: yes. IMO. This man probably won't live a great deal longer anyway, and seeing out the rest of his days in a prison hospital instead of a nursing home is probably immaterial.

So now we can't identify the man charged for legal reasons. He appeared in court and the case is adjourned until January.

"The case was adjourned until January next year and the man was again remanded in custody.

Outside the court, Mr Davies said he had been instructed by his client to publicly say that he maintains "he is innocent of the disappearance of (Ms Fulton)".

"He will fight the matter at trial until his name is cleared," Mr Davies said."

...........the former RAAF technician had an affair with a colleague’s wife when both families lived at the Amberley base in Queensland between 1979 and 1980........
Margaret Mabel Moore, 77, gave evidence that she became friends with Mrs Fulton when both their husbands were stationed in Malaysia in the 1970s.........however it was when their families moved to the Amberley base that she began to get to know Mr Fulton as he was known at the time...............
“It was an affair,” she said.
“How long did that go on for?”
“A couple of months I think,” Ms Moore replied.
She said she ended it because of “guilt”..............Mrs Fulton’s friend of 12 years, Patricia LaFrentz told the trial that after her disappearance she saw Mr Fulton with another woman at a RAAF Christmas function. “He was with another woman and said Sharon was in Queensland or away on holidays”, she said..Under cross-examination...... Ms LaFrentz admitted she was “mistaken” and that Mr Fulton did not tell her his wife was in Queensland but it was in fact “announced” at the Christmas party........
