Moose Jaw RCMP received a report from a landowner of human remains in a remote area on April 28 and the identity of the person is still a mystery. At this point, the RCMP believe it is just one person and the death is believed not to be suspicious in nature.
RCMP believes that the remains have been in the area for around 10 to 12 years due to the items found.
Parker noted that the remains and items were found scattered due to predators and other elements over 10 to 12 years had moved items.
Photos of items found with remains are at the link. Looks like someone was camping rough near the railroad tracks. Possibly someone transient that hopped trains. I hope dental records or DNA can help!

''The release didn’t specify whether it was a man or a woman, although it says there’s no evidence to suggest foul play was involved.
Searches yielded a number of personal items including clothing, backpacks and toiletries, and police say one specific item — a tube of toothpaste — helped investigators narrow down a timeframe for when the person may have been in the area.
The toothpaste had a 2013 expiry date, and the manufacturer told investigators that meant it was made no earlier than 2012.''

''What can be disclosed, however, is that the body was found in a rural area outside of Moose Jaw city limits and is on a secluded site on private property.

The identity of the deceased remains unknown, and police suspect they could be from anywhere in Canada as the location is near rail tracks and within reasonable walking distance from the Trans-Canada Highway. Current evidence suggests that the deceased individual is male – however, this will require DNA testing to confirm.''

''The police said the campsite area was searched utilizing tools such as remotely piloted aircraft systems, all-terrain vehicles and metal detectors. These searches yielded many personal items including clothing, backpacks, and toiletries.''

Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
News release

On April 28, 2024, Moose Jaw RCMP received a report of human remains located in a rural area northeast of Moose Jaw. Images were released publicly of some items located in an effort to help identify the individual. A ground search was conducted of the immediate area by police and investigators located several papers that were stuck together and unreadable. Experts with the RCMP's Forensic Identification Services re-hydrated the papers, yielding a possible identification/name of the person.

As a result of DNA analysis, the deceased individual's identity was confirmed to be an adult male from Saskatchewan. His family has been notified by investigators.

As the man's death is not considered suspicious, there are no outstanding missing persons reports associated to the individual, and the family has asked for privacy during this difficult time, the RCMP will not be naming him.
