Skin Cancer Soars in Women

This is so stressing me out. I dont have time for surgery and im too scared! uggh. Whats a biopsy?

Oh no, don't freak out! I'm playing the devil's advocate here, time out for surgery is ALOT less than time out for chemo! (Oh, I dont mean to sound mean!)

A biopsy is when they take off the mole and look at the cells to determine if it is melanoma.

Your surgery recovery time could be just days, depending on where the mole is.

I am relating to you so much because you react to things like I do!

Try to calm down, and don't be scared. But DO be concerned enough to make that appointment. The best thing about melanoma is that it is so easily treated as long as you get it taken care of in time.

(I feel like my mother, I'll stop lecturing now, I promise!)
I have had 2 moles removed---- it is not surgery--- it was done at the docs office, and there was no recovery time - why would there be a few days of recovery?

Hubby went to the skin specialist and had some smaller spots lazered off his face.....melanomas are very common here sadly.

The recovery was after my surgery to remove the melanoma, which was in the area surrounding the mole. The mole removal was a snap!

I think tanning is the culprit for this increase. That's one of the reasons I embrace my natural ghostly pallor. :ghost:

This is very scary to hear as I just joined a gym w/ free tanning. I am easily freckled and have burned to the point of blistering around age 9/10 in the Smoky Mountains (TN.)
I could not even raise my arms to brush my own hair...mom had to do it for me. This lasted from 2-3 days.
Scary. I am probably at a high probability to have skin cancer.

You too Dingo? :thumb: pale amigo. The sun is not my friend. :sunshine::razz: I've gotten burned through a tinted bus window so I think I'd be a pile of ashes after five minutes in a tanning bed. I think it's my Irish heritage. I used to watch :uk:The Bill:cop: and most of the people were as pale as me. I'd think "These are my people!" :3d::violin::doughboy::blush::3d::prayer::tongue: :3d:
