Found Deceased Spain - Álvaro Prieto, 18, 12 October 2023

he moved through the parking lot facing Kansas City Avenue, and from there he tried to access the platforms underground without permission, through a hidden area that is not for public use."
Snipped for focused reply. IMHO, that's where he will be found. Somewhere in the underground area, likely stuck between something. Sorry to say that. That is where I would search. There is still a change he is alive. Hurry.

Amateur opinion and speculation

That's what I know from the news: "According to station workers at Santa Justa, he moved through the parking lot facing Kansas City Avenue, and from there he tried to access the platforms underground without permission, through a hidden area that is not for public use."
I wonder if that's an area homeless people may sleep/hangout?

Updates about the case
I've been lucky to talk to a friend of the boy.
It seems that both he and Álvaro's family strongly believe in the theory that he hitchhiked and got into a car. From what I've been told, Álvaro would be very capable of trying that.
He has also told me that he spoke to him that night (around 6am) and he wasn't drank, besides he doesn't usually drink much. So, I rule out the possibility that he was drunk and accidentally fell somewhere.

An hour ago, a Twitter user (@alberto_sfc88) shared several images informing that "the UME (Military Emergencies Unit) is currently searching for Alvaro Prieto in the vacant lots near the train tracks" and minutes later, they reported that the area had been cordoned off and the K9 unit had been brought in.

This would be the zone where they would be searching:

I don't have any more information right now.

*Update at 9:50pm. More members of the UME has arrived and they are looking for Alvaro Prieto right now with flashlights on the train tracks.

Today I bring sad news.

I regret to inform you that the body of Álvaro Prieto has been found between two train carriages.
The body was discovered live by a television channel reporter.

I won't share links because they display very sensitive images and out of respect for the family.

I assume we will learn more when the autopsy is conducted.

Such sad news. I am heartbroken for Álvaro’s family.

Official Statement from Renfe, the national passenger railway company of Spain.
  • Renfe expresses its condolences to Álvaro's family.
  • The train where he was found was out of service due to a malfunction.
  • It hasn't been moved or underwent inspection since August.
  • Today it was performing a maneuver without passengers.
  • Renfe is cooperating with the police in the investigation.

The question is why would Álvaro get between the train cars of a train that wasn't in operation?
The Examining Court that is handling the case has decreed the secrecy of the investigation.

And the question is being there how did he die? Is it being treated as suspicious? Perhaps they haven’t said yet. What a shame.

From the images I've been able to see, the body was in a quite strange position. There are thousands of theories circulating on social media, but the police haven't said anything yet. I suppose they'll wait for the autopsy results first.

I watched the news at lunch and there was quite a firm theory being talked about the tv but yep we’ll have to wait and see.

”Police have confirmed that the engineering student was electrocuted while standing on top of a train before falling down the gap between the two carriages.”

Rest in peace, Álvaro :(

I read another case recently of a teenager who died similarly. Because the train is stopped and not in use, people don't realize the electric current can jump/arc without them touching the lines, or they just don't realize the risk above the train. JMO.

Rest in peace, young man.
