I've been watching this event for the past couple of days.
What strikes me most is that so many of the villages where people died didn't even have that much rain. It was the flash floods that came down from the areas that DID have a lot of rain.
So, so sad.
I wouldn't have been too concerned about wet weather either if I hadn't seen any rain.
<sigh>
My thoughts are with the local people. I can't imagine what you are going through after losing loved ones and neighbours.

I wonder if there were any warning signs from animals in the area. They usually start acting weird when any natural disaster phenomenon is about to occur. They aren't always able to escape but they do show signs from what I've noticed over the years. JMO.

Holidaymakers and locals have been told to stay inside as parts of Majorca have been placed under storm lockdown this weekend amid torrential rains and devastating floods.

The storm has battered coastal areas and submerged roads, with dramatic footage showing motorists driving through high floodwaters and huge torrents of water hurtling through towns.

One tourist shared a video of terrifying lightning above her villa, writing on Friday night that the storm has 'brought heavy rainfall and violent thunderstorms'.

This is so scary and my heart goes out to everyone. my grandfather worked in an embassy in Valencia during the civil war. If my mother was alive she would be heartbroken she was born in Barcelona, lived there as a child for many years but was swedish and and loved spain all her life.
