He named the people who caused his suicide as Jim and Allison Thacker of Kiezer Oregon and he said they were very evil people.

I see that his brand was pretty suggestive and I know first hand how crazy some self appointed morality police are online these days. The really sad thing is that he could have hired a digital consultant / social media manager, taken the summer off for vacation and probably returned to his business in the fall with his problems solved - assuming they were all caused by bad actors / cyberbullies of course.

It is not that simple.

If taking a break or hiring a “social media manager” actually solved cyberbullying, then it wouldn’t exist at the level it does. That advice sounds easy—but it ignores reality.

What you’re describing isn’t criticism or a few rude comments. It’s targeted, relentless harassment. It follows you everywhere. People create entire websites dedicated to tearing you down. They spread lies as fact. They dig into your personal life—your family, your past—and put it all on display. They contact people you love. It is constant. It does not stop when you log off.

Throwing money at it doesn’t magically fix it. Most people can’t afford that kind of help, and even when they can, it doesn’t erase what’s already out there or stop those determined to keep going.

Unless you’ve lived it, it’s very easy to underestimate how overwhelming and invasive it becomes.

I understand exactly how this kind of pressure builds. I’ve seen people pushed to the edge because of it. When it becomes 24/7, when there is no safe space, when the noise never stops—it wears people down in ways that are hard to explain.

The closest comparison is this: imagine walking through your daily life with a group of people following you everywhere—shouting insults, spreading lies, humiliating you in public—every single day. Now put that online, where it never disappears and can reach thousands instantly. That’s cyberbullying.
This is why it needs to be taken seriously—by all of us.

Great analogy. Policymakers need to update laws to reflect the real damage that cyber bullying does to individuals and families. Targeted, relentless, untrue and ill-intentioned attacks like you describe should be illegal and more easily prosecuted. I know that we have to balance any sanctions on hate and defamatory speech with our free speech rights, but I’m sure it can be done. It should not be ok to harass someone to the point that lives and careers are ruined. jmo

@Witch Doctor I hope you're not saying that because you thought his brand was pretty suggestive he was actually asking for what he got.

This was not morality police at work, it was allegedly a pair of evil individuals who I would suggest are now showing no remorse for the outcome of their actions.

And I hope the OP removes the irrelevant comments above because this is a very serious matter.
