OMG are you suggesting not doing RHOGAM?
Do you freakin know how many drop in babies I saw in the NICU that their moms didn't get prenatal care, thier moms needed to have gotten the RHOGAM shot during pregnancy, didn't get it, and the babies therefore darn near died?!?
Ok, I'll tell you.
I did a SHORT rotation 1 semester (I work general peds now, but NOT the NICU - just peds and nursery / OB) and I saw 4!! THOSE BABIES WERE SOOOO SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there's a reason for Rhogam. and i saw it with thine own eyes. never in my life would i let my own child go through what i saw those infants go through!!!
If I remember correctly, one had to be shipped to ANOTHER NICU far away because our local NICU was not equipped to handle that baby (how scary does that sound people?). Which did not happen very often from that facility - at all. They never ship out, they ship in from other states.

sorry if i seem so empassioned...

I've stayed out of this one because I feel like this has been re-hashed several times. However, RHOGAM has save many lives. It has also drastically reduced the cases of Athetoid CP which was primarily caused by Rh incompatibility.

Nope. Not what I said at all. My first child was born in 1983 and that is when the preservative was loaded in the injection and over the years since then, the thimerasol has been removed for some reason. Protecting my babies was the only concern of mine or I wouldn't have had the eight doses. Just trying to share my personal experience, but now I see that it just made things worse by posters putting words in my mouth. Thanks for the concern if there was anyone that had any.
