TV’s Skupin to stand trial on porn, scheme charges

Clarkston — One of Oakland County’s former reality TV stars has been ordered to stand trial on felony charges of bilking investors in a pyramid scheme as well as possession of child pornography.

Michael Skupin, 54, of White Lake Township, immediately left Clarkston District Court on Friday after a judge said there was enough evidence for him to stand trial on racketeering, larceny and child pornography charges after his computer was seized during a state investigation.

The child pornography charge carries up to four years in prison. The larceny charge is a felony with a five-year prison penalty and the racketeering-conducting a criminal enterprise offense is punishable by up to 20 years in prison...

DETROIT - Former "Survivor" contestant and Michigan native Michael Skupin*pleaded guilty Monday to one count of larceny by conversion and agreed to pay $30,000 in restitution to his victims.*

Skupin was also found guilty of four counts of possession of child sexually abusive*materials Friday...

Ex-‘Survivor’ to be sentenced on child porn possession

Former “Survivor” TV show contestant Michael Skupin is expected to be sentenced Tuesday*after he was was found guilty last month*of possession of child pornography.

Skupin, 54, of White Lake Township was convicted Nov. 18 on four of six counts of possession following a two-day trial. An Oakland County*jury of eight women and four men deliberated only two and a half hours before returning their verdict.

He faces up to four years in prison for the felony charges, which resulted from a state investigation earlier this year into a Ponzi-style investment scheme, “Pay It Forward,” which he allegedly was operating in Oakland County...
