Alvar Larsson - Wikipedia
On April 16th 1967, thirteen year old Alvar Larsson mysteriously disappeared from his family’s farm without a trace. The farm was known as Sundslätt and it was situated on the secluded island of Sirkö which was in Lake Åsnen. He was sent out to the wood shed by his mother to get some wood since he said he was going for a walk before church.
When he didn’t come back with the wood, his mother went out looking for him only to find the braided wood basket sitting outside of the shed. Alvar’s family searched for him with neighbors before the police were alerted to his disappearance. Despite extensive searches, both aerial and water, he was never found.
On November 5th 1982, through Fox hunters were on an island 6 km away from Sirkö when they found a human skull. Within the next few days, the skull would be positively identified as belonging to Alvar Larsson via dental records. No other remains were found.
Although a large hole was present on the back of the skull, it could not be determined whether the damage was caused before or after the young boy’s death. Alvar was buried next to his father following the skull’s discovery.
Alvar’s case remains a perplexing mystery. Some suspect he died due to an accident or misadventure. Others believe foul play might’ve been involved. Still, none of the many theories have ever been confirmed.
