There appears to be new facts revealed in the Knutby murder case from 2004. There has been a lot of interest in the case in Sweden, both in 2004 when it happened, as well as afterwards. The murder happened in the night of 10 January 2004, when first a man was shot in the head and chest and seriously wounded at 4.40 a.m. Two hours later the body of 23-year-old Alexandra Fossmo was found in her bed. She was a neighbour, and employee, of the man first shot. Alexandra Fossmo was married to Helge Fossmo (33-year-old at the time), a pastor in the local Pentecostal church, and he had went with the man who had been shot to the hospital, as he was a member of the Pentecostal congregation.
The following day a 26-year-old woman, Sara Svensson, who had worked as a nanny for the Fossmo family, confessed to both shootings. Wire trappings revealed that Helge Fossmo and Sara Svensson were lovers, and Helge Fossmo and the wife of the man who had been shot, were arrested, suspected of instigating the murder and murder attempt. The wife was released after two weeks, and never charged.
Sara Svensson was sentenced to institutional psychiatric care, and she was presumably returned to society in the end of 2010.
Helge Fossmo was sentenced to life in prison for instigating the murder, and the attempted murder. In 2019 his sentenced was decided to 26 years, with a possibility of release after serving 2/3 of his sentencing. In January 2022 he was conditionally released, after having 18 years.
One reason why the case acquired so much media interest in Sweden was that those involved belonged to the same cult-like Christian congregation in Knutby, lead by Åsa Waldau (the sister of the murdered woman). Åsa Waldau was frequently named in the newspapers as Kristi brud (Bride of Christ), as she had performed an engagement ritual with Jesus.
There is a HBO documentary about the case, called Pray, Obey, Kill. There is also a fictionalized Swedish miniserie, Knutby.

Now there are reports that there seems to have been serious mistakes in the investigation back in 2004, and the nanny, Sara, might not have been the one who killed Alexandra Fossmo, as she might already had been dead when Sara Svensson shot her.
