I just can't...

This is what happens when half the population is not viewed as human, merely the means to an end for the other half, who then pre-empt rejection or refusal with a violence that they feel only they can commit. To serve as reminder. The kind of reminder that's then apparently backed by police and government officials every time they suggest the violence is inevitable, so women would do well to only go where and do what they dictate.

Why would anyone want to go there as a tourist? I love all kinds of exotic and unusual places, and even some with difficulties like malaria and pestilence, but why in the world anyone would choose to travel to India is beyond me.

LUCKNOW, India -- Authorities in northern India said Thursday that they have arrested three men, including two police officers, suspected of gang-raping and killing two teenage sisters before hanging their bodies from a mango tree, sparking renewed public outrage over sexual violence in the country.

Villagers found the girls' bodies hanging from the tree Wednesday morning, hours after they disappeared from fields near their home in Katra village in Uttar Pradesh state, police Superintendent Atul Saxena said. The girls, who were 14 and 15, had gone into the fields because there was no toilet in their home.
