Twenty people are killed after WWII sightseeing plane crashes into Alps - just hours after family of four were killed when their aircraft went down in Swiss forest

All 20 people on board a vintage sightseeing plane were killed when the aircraft crashed into a mountainside in the Swiss Alps - hours after a family of four were killed when their small aircraft went down in a forest.

The Junkers Ju-52 plane went down on Saturday on the Piz Segnas mountain above the Swiss Alpine resort of Flims, striking the mountain's western flank about 2,540 metres (8,330 feet) above sea level.

The mountainous area in south-eastern Switzerland is popular with hikers and skiers and includes a glacier.

Police said they have now determined that all 20 people on board the plane, including its three crew members, died. Eleven men and nine women were killed.
