The police department has not yet said why Dillow allegedly fired the blanks at the students, but he has been removed from his teaching position while the investigation continues

Dillow has temporarily been removed from the classroom, and his future at the school is undecided. The motives behind his actions are also at the center of the police investigation, WTVR reports.

Possibly old enough to be a war veteran? Can he claim flashbacks? Other than that, the only defense I see here is complete and total "brain cramp!" And that just doesn't cut it in a court of law. 5 years on each of 6 counts=30 years. He deserves it!

A former Washington County teacher has received a five-year suspended sentence for firing a blank gun in class.

Manuael Ernest Dillow of Kingsport, Tenn., also will spend two years' probation.

The Bristol Herald Courier says the 61-year-old Dillow pleaded guilty this week to brandishing a firearm on school property.
