When Catherine McGuigan began digging an extension in her cottage, she thought she had budgeted for every contingency.


But she could not have prepared for what would emerge after workmen found ten skeletons buried under her dining room.
And now Miss McGuigan, 42, faces a £30,000 bill to give them another resting place.

What a shock. rather unfair the quakers don't contribute to the cost of reburial, IMO. £30,000 is nearly $60,000.

I hazily remember the film Poltergeist where an estate of houses was built over an Indian graveyard, is that right?

what would happen in the states if it were really found someone's house were built over a graveyard? would the owners have the responsibility to re-bury the bodies?

I would think the builder/city whoever gave permission for the property building to be built to begin with.

It would be left to the city. Surveys are done here by city workers to prevent this sort of thing.
