A "chameleon" who died in prison while serving time for murdering his wife has now been tied to the 1981 disappearance of a New Hampshire woman and the bodies of a woman and three children — one of them his own daughter — who were found in barrels in the woods.

Investigators said they followed a convoluted forensic trail to tie the cases to Evans, a hard-drinking drifter who allegedly beat his victims to death and dismembered some of them:

• They believe he murdered girlfriend Denise Beaudin, a 23-year-old Manchester, New Hampshire, woman last seen in 1981. They suspect he killed her somewhere between New Hampshire and California and kept her infant daughter, named Dawn at birth, for several years before abandoning her in a California RV park in 1986. The girl, whom he renamed Lisa, was later adopted and is alive and well.

• They believe that as early as 1980, he killed four victims whose bodies were found in industrial drums in Allenstown, New Hampshire. The remains of a woman in her mid-20s and a girl about age 11 were not found until 1985, and the bodies of two girls, one about 4 and one about 3, were found in another container in 2000. He is the father of the middle child, and police believe her mother, who has not been identified, may have been killed as well.

• He admitted killing and dismembering California chemist Eunsoon Jun, 45, soon after marrying her in a backyard ceremony in California in 2002 and was serving a 15-year sentence when he died in prison in 2010.

The suspect, Bob Evans, was known by many different names over the years. Evans left New Hampshire in 1981 with his then-girlfriend, Denise Beaudin, and her infant daughter. No missing person report was ever filed, as Beaudin's family believed the couple left the area for financial reasons.

In late December, police filed an official missing person report for Beaudin. When officers searched Beaudin's Manchester home, no remains were found, though investigators say the dirt floor was "disturbed."

Police believe Evans killed Denise somewhere in California and sometime thereafter abandoned Denise's daughter, Lisa, in a trailer park. Lisa has just shadowy memories of her life as a baby and recently decided to find more about her past through DNA evidence. That led to the discovery that Denise was her mother.

This discovery led police to investigate Evans further. Based on DNA evidence, police said that Evans is the father of the middle victim in the Allenstown murders, where an adult woman and three children were found dead in barrels. The victims of the Allenstown murders have not yet been identified. Investigators say the adult woman and other two children are not related to Evans. Based on his criminal profile, investigators believe Evans knew the victims.

Richmond wife-killer linked to five other murders

Evans has been confirmed to be located in New Hampshire and Preston, Idaho, in the mid-1980s, and then in California locations including Richmond, Felton, Scotts Valley and San Luis Obispo from then until 2002.

He had been in a California prison for a child molestation conviction during the late 1980s or early 1990s.

The man then calling himself Lawrence Vanner was arrested in September 2002, after sheriff’s deputies found Eunsoon Jun dead and buried under a pile of kitty litter in the basement of her East Richmond Heights home. Worried friends and relatives had been trying to contact her for several months, but Vanner said she was too emotionally fragile to speak to them. He also claimed to have married her in an undocumented ceremony.

Investigators described Jun as the man’s girlfriend rather than wife, and identified him through fingerprints as a fugitive named Curtis Mayo Kimball.

The whereabouts of her boyfriend. Robert “Bob” Evans was 37 at the time of Beaudin’s disappearance. “We know where Evans is but can’t say more until the news conference (in a few weeks),” said Jeffery Strelzin, chief of the Attorney General’s Homicide Unit.

• Beaudin’s daughter. Although Beaudin left in 1981 with Evans and her infant daughter, the daughter is not missing and police know where she lives. “Denise’s daughter does not want her name released right now. She is alive and well,” Strelzin said.

• The unreported disappearance. Authorities said Beaudin was not listed as missing until new information was obtained recently. That prompted police to generate a missing person report and enter it into the National Crime Information Center data base.

On Wednesday, authorities said Beaudin’s family last saw her and Evans on Thanksgiving 1981. But when the family tried to visit them at their apartment at 925 Hayward St. on Dec. 1, they were gone.

Man at center of Allenstown deaths, missing woman case remains mystery

He changed his name frequently. Some of his aliases were Curtis Mayo Kimball, Gordon Curtis Jenson, Gerald E. Mockerman and Lawrence William Vanner.

Investigators said he told people that he was born in Wyoming with the name Ulos Jensen and was the youngest son in the family. He said he ran away as a teenager. Investigators said they also believe that he could have been born in San Pedro, California.

Officials said he referenced having a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old child in the 1980s. He listed the name "Elizabeth Evans" as a spouse on a 1980 arrest report.
Investigators were able to pull together some details of his life based on arrest reports and employment records. He faced charges in Manchester in 1980 for writing a bad check and diverting electric current.
Investigators don't know where Evans went after he and Beaudin disappeared. He shows up in the public record years later, when he was hired under the name Curtis Kimball by an electric company in 1984 in Los Alamitos, California. He worked there for about a year before he was arrested and charged with DUI.

The suspect in the case, Bob Evans, died in prison for another murder in 2010, but they believe he spent time in Quebec in the late 1970s.

A spokesperson for the Centre says Evans met a Denise or a Donna Laporte at that time. It says Evans — who is also said to have gone by the names Curtis Mayo Kimball or Gordon Curtis Jenson — once mentioned he had an ex-wife by that name.

Hemmingway dusted with fingerprint powder every piece of equipment that Jenson had worked on at Holiday Host. He came up with a print from a VCR that Jenson had repaired. The state computer matched that print to Curtis Mayo Kimball, Jenson's true name.
